Loss of Employment Before Trip - B-2 Visa

Hi there.

I intend to visit my boyfriend in the US in a few months but have recently been laid off. I already have the B-2 Visa and round-trip plane tickets. I live with my family so I don't pay rent or have any bills under my name, and I now lost my employment.

Will border patrol deny me entry if I cannot find another job by then? What can I do to prove I plan to go back to my home country? Please help.

My thoughts are that you were already approved and established as a non-risk, but I can also see people using employment as a tie and then quitting to abscond.

Can you get confirmation in writing from your previous employer that you were laid off, and didn't quit?

There is always a chance CBP can deny entry.

All you can do is answer any questions from CBP truthfully.  Typically they will ask purpose of your visit, how long you intend to stay, and where you will stay in the US.  I doubt they will ask you about your employment, but they might.

Sounds like the perfect time to visit now.  I highly doubt they will ask you about current employment, people change jobs all the time.

You already proved what you needed to prove to get approved for the tourist visa, Enjoy the trip.

I have found the CBP to be pretty cluess about immigrations laws.  When I brought my fiance back to USA from Philippines, first they asked me if I pay taxes, which I thought was pretty silly question since I had just done a K1 Visa Interview a few weeks earlier.

Then a lady told me once we get married to go to our local USCIS office and adjust status there, Once she said that I knew she was lost, I just said Thanks you for the information and we entered.
