N400 application question

Hello all,

 

We are getting ready to apply for my husband's citizenship and in the application it asks about the employment history during the time he has been a resident. In the first year and a half my husband was not working but studying for his real estate exam. It took a bit longer because of language barriers. During this time he did NOT claim any unemployment benefits or anything. What should I add in that history for a year and a half?

He was unemployed. He has no employment history for that period.  Nothing to add.

Senior Master Sergeant, US Air Force- Retired (after 20+ years)- Missile Systems Maintenance & Titan 2 ICBM Launch Crew Duty (200+ Alert tours)

Registered Nurse- Retired- I practiced in the areas of Labor & Delivery, Home Health, Adolescent Psych, & Adult Psych.

IT Professional- Retired- Web Site Design, Hardware Maintenance, Compound Pharmacy Software Trainer, On-site go live support, Database Manager, App Designer.

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

There is no requirement for a person to be employed at all.  It will not pose any problems at all.

When I do it online it says Im missing information.

Then make that period as unemployed as @EmilyW did.  Personally, I think that is a flaw in their online form.......but do whatever it takes to fill that gap.  Good luck.

I have no idea if there is a study option, as I wasn't studying.  I was just a bum for a couple of months.

 

No impact submitting the N-400 and no impact during the interview.
