Hi,

Next Sunday I’ll be flying out on my K1 Visa to Dallas from Heathrow Airport. I just wanted to know if you’re still able to use BA’s Self Check-In Kiosk at the terminal, or do you have to wait for the Check-In Desk to open for a member of staff to review your Visa?

I’ll be getting there 5hrs before my flight, so i wanted to know if i can go straight through or do i have to wait around in the terminal. Thanks!

I think the self service check in kiosks are still able to be used there but I think baggage drop opens about 3 hours before departure time so usually I have had to wait around for it to open before going through to security if I have got there early.

I used them on my last two trips and got through without seeing a member of staff, but 1/2 people have informed me that they had to go to the main check in desk to get their K1 Visa checked and have their boarding pass printed by an agent since the self service kiosk didn’t allow them to print their boarding pass when they scanned their visa.

I suppose you can go to the self service kiosks and try them and then go to the main desk if you need to but I still imagine you will need to wait around until baggage drop opens as it says on Heathrow's website that baggage drop is 3 hours before departure unless you only have hand luggage then you can go straight through to security. I think in terms of reviewing the visa that it will be all ok but I guess you don't really want to be waiting around for 2 hours.
