I’m not seeking the waiver as it’s a contraindicated. I’m wondering how to find a doctor who is willing to mark it off for me

I’m not looking into the waiver, I just want to find a doctor who can sign contraindications and I’m not sure how

That’s not how that works.   Doctors don’t make the vaccine requirements.   You definitely need a waiver, which is only approved by the consulate, and adds 1+ year to the overall wait time for a visa.

Seems there are 6,000 plus Civil Surgeons

But it seems Canada requires a complete medical so moot, did not know.

Civil surgeons have the discretion to tick off a box that says “contraindicated” if they it’s unsafe for someone to take the vaccine. A waiver is for moral or religious reasons against all vaccine. The civil surgeon can give a “blanket waiver” that requires no extra fees or time. It’s just about finding a civil surgeon who believes me with my health records

Even a K1 in Canada needs to have all vaccines or they will not release the medical. The OP needs to find a Canadian doctor who will actually speak out about COvid which is going to be very hard in Canada. They are still pushing and punishing those for anything Covid related.

@nomororo Personally I would get all your medical records take them to the Panel physician and give him all the information about what the vaccine did to you. Hopefully he will just mark it as contraindicated. If not you will have to go the waiver route.

So Canada requires even the K1 medical to have vaccines? I have one of the bivalent but not the entire series. That doesn’t make sense to me because then I would have to do them again if they expired by the time I moved there. I also don’t understand why the USCIS website says K1 visas do not require vaccinations until they move (since it’s a non immigrant visa) unlike those who are already married and not going the fiancé route

Canada I know does unusual things, I went through London.

Where did you hear this from? Did they force you to get them in Canada for K1? I’m trying to find info on it but I can’t. I only saw that IV applicants had to but not sure if this is IV

He’s a US citizen and we’re hoping to go the K1 route

If you're going K-1 route you can decline any and all vaccines and deal with it in the US come I-693 time. Then you'll be talking to US civil surgeons who may be better positioned to accept medical injury and contraindications to vaccines. You can look up DS-3025 form yourself as that's what all overseas medical exams include.

That’s what I thought as well, but one of the commenters told me in Canada we need to have all the vaccines done before they release the medical

Again, as a K-1 you have the option to get it all done in Canada OR opt out of all and handle it in the US. Solely up to you and if someone tells you otherwise they're wrong.

It's the way the Canadian doctors are has been for this way for almost 20yrs. They will not release the medical without all vaccines completed. That is unless you are going to get a waiver.

In Canada a K1 cannot forgo the vaccines until they enter the US. It has to be done or the medical will not be completed.

Most vaccine series, such as Hep A or B, MMR you only have to have the first shot to get it started, but for Covid it has it's own rule and it needs to be completed.

That's not quite right as per CDC itself: https://www.cdc.gov/immigrant-refugee-health/hcp/panel-physicians/vaccination.html

So yes, as part of the exam they should go through the vaccination history and complete the form (and give a copy of the form to the applicant), but can't make a K-1 applicant take any vaccines if they decide they don't want any.

Vaccination Documentation for Nonimmigrants

The vaccination history of all applicants submitting for an examination by a U.S. panel physician should be reviewed and vaccinations they have previously received should be documented on the DS-3025 Form, even if they are nonimmigrants who are not required to meet vaccination requirements prior to travel to the United States.

Although refugees and K visa applicants are not required to receive vaccines before traveling to the United States, they must meet the vaccination requirements when applying for adjustment of status or permanent resident status in the United States. Therefore, for these applicants, panel physicians must complete a DS-3025 Form if the applicant provides reliable vaccination records. A copy of this form must be provided to the applicant for use as his or her vaccination record in the United States.
