I-130 Estimated Processing Time says 2 weeks? How to combine cases?

Hello,

I submitted I-130 2 months ago (IR1) for my husband and 11 yr old stepson who live abroad. I am the usc petitioner.  When I checked the progress today, it said estimated progress waiting time on my husband's application to be 2 weeks, while my stepson's was estimated 7 months.

I had filed for them online at the same time, but each got their own I-130 and separate fees paid (but all done on same day).

I did reach out to a congressman to assist with expediting but they required additional documents which I didn't have yet. I wonder if they really helped moved it up somehow regardless.

1) Are these estimated times quite reliable? Could the congressman have had something to do with expediting somehow?

2) Is there something I need to do to tie their applications together?

Any thoughts or advice is appreciated. Thank you kindly.

Absolutely unreliable.

No, they're two separate applications.

You can tie the I130s together after they are approved and they both reach NVC.  After one petition gets there, just wait for the second one to arrive, then submit the required documents for both, and request they be tied together and sent to the consulate together.

Good Luck!

My advice is to ignore all estimates of time.  None are reliable.  Expect the cases to be processed together. If not, their processing time will be similar.  There is absolutely no reason to think otherwise.  It's a black hole.  Adapt.
