How do you disclose speeding tickets?

I am planning to click "yes" on all the questions asking about offenses, convictions, citations etc. and then disclose my speeding tickets.

I just recently got a speeding ticket (payed it the same day), and then I remember I got one 25 years ago. (I have been visiting and living in the US for a long time).

I have been a driver since the 90s and been driving all over the US and my home country. I just can not recall if I got any other speeding tickets besides the above mentioned two. It is just such a long time frame and I took road trips through multiple states in the US and also drove in my home country which has speeding cameras so it is very easy to get a speeding ticket there.

Am I really expected to remember all speeding tickets I ever had in my live? I want to fill out my N-400 correctly and not have any errors or omissions but this is just almost impossible.

Do I really have to contact every BMV in every state I ever drove to get driving records?

How do you handle this?

Thank you.

Thank you VisaJourney

you don’t!

speeding tickets don’t have to be declared. I have several over the years, didn’t mention them and I have my green card without issue.

Sorry, but I disagree. The applications now clearly state law enforcement interactions (including citations).

Speeding tickets don't harm your case unless you get an outrageous amount. However not disclosing can result in denial or delay of decision.

The best action is to contact the DMVs and get your driving record, as well as an attempt to fetch old tickets. Put in a note that you had more but are unable to find records of them anymore, however, they are all paid with nothing pending (if that's the case)

Often IOs don't even bother with them but being honest is what they are looking for. My n400 IO told me "I don't care about those".

Agreed, I'd disclose those. From what I know, most lawyers also recommend listing them.

I live in Georgia and I got 3 tickets in past 4 years and I didn't remember dates and type of fine for any so, all I did was went to their DDS(DMV) site and they had an option to just buy the record($6/$8). and boom I had all information in single paper so i just filled it out. for you since you have multiple just add the incidents what you remember that is what i was going to do because i had no clue about the dates when i came to that section too. so just add what you remember and go on it shouldn't be a big deal until and unless you got a DUI or were arrested.

I have hear people getting away with this but it does clearly state citation now so I dont think its a good idea to leave it out.
