How do I know if NVC has received our approved petition? I am USC the petitioner and I have received NOA2 more than a month ago that our petition was approved and NVC will handle the rest of process but I haven’t received any communication from NVC yet . Do I need to create any login for NVC to check the status of our application or something?

i (the petitioner) never received communication from the NVC.

my fiance in Germany did get a letter from them saying they had our petition. but this was over a month after it had already been at the embassy. so well past the NVC stage.

you can check the NVC processing timelines here, this is usually pretty accurate and should give you a good idea about when NVC will process your petition

https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/immigrate/nvc-timeframes.html

on your NOA2 it should say something like "after 4 weeks/30 days you can submit an inquiry to the NVC about the status of your petition".

That would be what I would recommend you do next. you can do that here

https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/visa-information-resources/ask-nvc.html

You can check the tracking on USCIS, as they will update when they've sent your petition to NVC, but it is currently taking a while.

For reference, our NOA2 approval is dated 2nd August, but they didn't dispatch to NVC until 28th August.

It's frustrating, because the NOA2 specifically reads "We have sent the original visa petition to the Department of State National Visa Center (NVC)", but in reality they haven't. The wording suggests that by the time you're reading the NOA2, it's already on it's way. They should really re-word the NOA2 to say "We will send the original ..." so you immediately understand to give it some time.

Yeah, it seems to be a common theme recently. I was approved August 22 and haven't gotten a status update yet.

Yeah I think the steps from uscis approval to NVC are delayed somewhat.

The most recent I've seen is approval Aug 13th, sent to state September 19th. So just around 4.5 weeks.

This week makes 5 weeks for me, guess we will just have to see how things develop and hopefully they speed up! :)

I got my case number using the public inquiry form at the link below. Tell them that your NOA2 is a month old now and you are requesting your case ID. I would also in that same inquiry ask them to be sure they have the correct emails for you and the beneficiary and give them the correct email addresses.

Doing this doesn't guarantee the same response nor guarantee it will make a difference.

Many have done this and NVC just reply and state that they still do not have it.

The process is somewhat delayed for everyone at this stage, your time line won't necessarily be applicable to current timelines.

e.g my friend got approved July 26th, sent to state Aug 13th, weeks of PI and kept getting told NVC do not have it. Only on September 19th does NVC finally state that they received it.

Thank you everyone. I’ve submitted an inquiry. Let’s see what they say . And I guess , will keep checking my status through USCIS website. I’ll start working on I-134 form and supporting documentation to send to beneficiary or is it too early ?

Not too early... there is no expiration for a Form I-134. I would just wait to sign it, scan it and email it to your fiancee until you have a case number from NVC, then you can put that case number on a cover sheet for the I-134 packet you send

I have a status notification from USCIS today . And it’s for the case has sent to DOS . The question is how do I get my case ID ?
“On September 25, 2024, we sent your case, Receipt Number WACXXXXXX , to the Department of State for visa processing. You can find general information on Consular Processing by visiting our website at www.uscis.gov . The website will provide information on what to do next, who to contact, and how to inform us of any changes in your situation or address”

you get your case ID from the NVC

but if it was only just sent yesterday, it will take at the very least 30 days for NVC to process it and assign it a case number

see the processing times here

https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/immigrate/nvc-timeframes.html

they are working on cases they received on september 12th.

they more than likely won't receive your case for at least a few more days, as I am pretty sure I-129f cases are still sent by physical mail.

you will probably get a generic "we don't have your case" response to the inquiry you already submitted. you will probably have to wait another month or so and try again.

or the foreign fiance will receive a letter from the NVC with the case number. but that is usually pretty slow.
