My fiance is thinking of applying for a tourist visa so he can come visit me. We sent in our I-129F already and still waiting for NOA1. Anyone from the Philippines dealt with this situation where your fiance flew her for tourist visa? He had a tourist visa before but it's expired. Will it take along time to renew the visa? Please let me know. Thank you so much.

All of them were Russian citizen, dunno how about Phillipines...

But I guess all rules are the same...

It varies by country but there are many, many couples that visit during the visa process. Most of the time as long as you show ties to your home country to assure you will not over stay your tourist visa you are OK. Proof would be a letter from employer, bills, rent agreement, etc. A call to the consulate in your country would probably be a good first step. Good luck.

I went to visit Claudeth while waiting for the visa to be issued with no problems. As a USC with a round trip ticket you can stay in the Philippines for 21 days without needing an additional approval. If you stay longer just go to a local immigration office and get an extension. I think the extensions are 59 days or something like that and cost a couple thousand pesos. Its been a couple of years so don't remember the specific cost. You will need a couple of passport photos for the extension but can get them in about any local photo store for about a dollar.

I don't think I would. The USC can visit. Otherwise, patience.

He, you're fiance is the one in the Philippines and would like to apply for the tourist visa? Yes, he can apply again for a tourist visa but with the pending petition that he have, he needs a very "strong ties" (reason to come back) to the Philippines for him to be granted a tourist visa. USEM is very strict with this policies, especially if the applicant have pending petitions because they think this applicants will not come back to the Philippines and would just wait in the US until their petition gets approved. He can always try if he wants but he can also wait and be patient until the petition gets approved.

Just wondered how long it would take me who has no knowledge of PI to find the answer - 17 days.

Under 30 seconds.

Applying for tourist visa in the Philippines is a game of chance especially if you are single. He can try though who knows he might get one.

Good luck

I can only speak from visa waiver countries. There it's generally no problem at all to visit the USC while the K1 is in progress. I read that some even told the immigration officer that they're waiting for a K1 visa, and there's no problems. Then again, we don't have to apply for a visa... But there's always the possibility for the USC to travel ;)

Wouldn't it be easier for the USC to go there? I mean, since the USC petitions for the Fiance visa for them to come to the states, would it be easier to say that the USC can travel there with so much more less hassle?

Pinaylang,

Generally, it is nearly impossible for the average pinoy to get a tourist visa to the USA - even less of a chance if he has a 129-F pending. The "Strong Ties" means test is such a huge hurdle - even for a Univesity Educated, Professionally Employed, Home-Owning Pinoy. This would describe a distinct minority of people in the Philippines and the vast majority of these people would still get denied a tourist visa.

However, you do mention that he had previously received a Tourist Visa to the USA. Some questions to think about:

1. How long ago was the previous visa issued?

2. Did he actually use the previously issued visa - did he actually travel and get admitted into the USA?

3. Under what circumstances was he granted the previous Tourist Visa? - Family abroad? Work? Traveling with Organized Group? Owns business in PI? Entertainer? Accomplished and Published specialist in a certain field, ie Medicine, Law, Engineering, etc...

4. Have his circumstances changed since when he last applied and was granted a tourist visa?
