Flight reservations for Tourist visa interview

Does the CO expect to see proof of return flight such as reservations or flight itinerary?  If so, what is the accepted way of obtaining that without purchasing tickets?  I have seen multiple companies offering “dummy tickets” but they seem sketchy and from reviews not always reliable.

Why would you consider doing that?

What is preventing you from booking a return ticket? Usually a trip has a start and an end?

No CO doesn't expect to see tickets or pre arranged flights for a tourist visa interview

Here is some reading for you to explain more about tourist visa. Even the US Dept of states not to buy airline tickets until you have visa in hand.

  • There is no guarantee you will be issued a visa. Do not make final travel plans or buy tickets until you have a visa.

She/He doesn't have an apporved Tourist visa would be preventing, it would be silly to purchase booking a flight before doing interview.

I know they are not supposed to buy tickets prior to having their visa, that was not the point I was making..

Yet the OP is asking whether producing some fake tickets could help his tourist visa approval. No it won't.

Actually this is the OP exact words

The question to me was does CO (that is the person doing the interview) wants to see return flights reservation or itinerary.

A simple No would of been a good the correct answer

I have seen a few tourist visa interviews go down in the US Embassy in Manila, I have never heard any CO ask about showing tickets, nor have I known anyone who bought a ticket out of the Philippines without a visa for a tourist visa.

Used to be in the Philippines they airlines would not sell you a ticket out of the country unless you had a visa in hand, Not sure what the policy is now of days.

Are you asking on behalf of a family member of a GC holder? If so, expect that the bar to prove nonimmigrant intent will be higher, particularly if they're a close relation.

  • Are the intending visitors married? Do they have spouses, and especially children, who will stay in the Philippines and won't travel to the US?
  • Do the intending visitors own property in the Philippines?
  • Are the intending visitors permanently employed in the Philippines? Can they provide a letter from their employer confirming that employer knows about their travel and expects them back at work by a certain date?

There are other ways to substantiate nonimmigrant intent than a return itinerary.

OP asked about a US Visa.

I'm quite certain that at the visa interview the consul could care less if a B2 visa applicant has a plane ticket or not.  They wouldn't hesitate to deny someone who did have a ticket if that's what they decided.  They would probably be more interested in your explanation of how you were paying for the ticket than any ticket itself.  If you got the visa you might be asked at the border about how your departure from the US is planned and if you showed them a plane ticket it better be a real one.
