What is Mailed to Embassy Prior to Med Ex & Interview?

Hello everyone,

I spent several days (as a guest in the forum) reading through material trying to find the answer to this, my first post. What exactly must my fiancee mail back to the embassy after she receives the packet from them and what does she hold on to from the packet (or forms filled in on line) and hand carry to her medical exam and interview in Manila?

Additionally, their web site mentions a Police Certification. Can you clarify that this is necessary only if the fiancée lived in a foreign country for over 6mo and that for someone who lived in the Philippines all their life, they only require the NBI clearance, correct and not a police clearance from their local province police station?

Best of luck to all of you and thank you in advance for your responses.

Bill

hi Bill,

there's no ne need to mail back the USEmbassy once you received the Packet 4. All you have to do is secure all the necessary documents, proceed to bank for DS forms payment & finish the medical examination.

Police certificates are required for those beneficiaries who stayed in a foreign country (specifically for the last 5 years). But if the beneficiary only stayed in the Phils, she only needs NBI clearance.. Though other applicants stil secure Police Clearance in their Local Govmnt Office for just further reference.

Like what they say..its better to have more supporting documents than miss one of it & be in AR condition.

For your further reference ..please read this wonderful post by Sheriff Uling...

Bill, from my understanding. You mail nothing back to the Embassy. You fill out the DS-156, DS-156K, DS-157, I-134, etc... Get everything together. Send the evidence, etc.. to her

She will take the appropriate forms along with her to St. Lukes in Manila. Then she'll take the other papers to the Embassy in Manila on her interview day.

NBI is only thing needed if she's always been a resident in the Philippines.

Make sure she has her Certificate of No Marriage, and an NSO Certified Birth Certificate.

Annie and I are in the gathering process, but these are the things I'm learning from others who have been through the process.

If it's going to be, it's up to me!

You dont have to send anything to the US embassy. She dont need that police clearance anymore. Check this site, there a sample of K-1 Visa Packet (packet 4) in there http://manila.usembassy.gov/wwwh3023.html

The Police Clearance from a foreign country is required only if your fiancee has resided in a foreign country for MORE THAN 6 MONTHS. If she has not gone abroad and lived there for more than 6 months then she will only need an NBI clearance. Goodluck!!

Removal of Conditions :

August 16, 2010 - Petition received by USCIS Vermont Center

August 20, 2010 - NOA1 received

October 4, 2010 - Biometrics

January 3, 2011 - Permanent 10 yr. Green Card Received.

To alexandra 8886. I realized my earlier post is contrary to yours where you mentioned about the last 5 years. Where did you get such information? I am worried now after reading it because my fiancee has been travelling around asia the last 3 years as a tourist and didnt obtain a Police Certificate from such countries ( Australia, Hongkong, Thailand) because she only went there as a tourist for a maximum of 2 weeks, longest was 3 months in Australia. Kindly update me because she already received her Packet 4 and the requirement there is that Police clearance from other counties is only needed if the beneficiary has lived thereat for 6 months or more. I hope you will reply as soon as you read our post.

Thank you.

hi jom,

if the 5 years bother you, well this is how it goes...

from the form G325A, it requires the INFORMATION OF THE BENEFICIARY'S EMPLOYMENT & RESIDENCE DETAILS.

Its a COMMON SENSE that this 5-year period is the main concern of USEmbassy that the benificiary is clear with any criminal record.

If police certificate will also be required for tourist travel of the beneficiary..they should have been revised their question with ..

DETAILS OF BENEFICIARY'S VISITED FOREIGN COUNTRY FOR THE LAST 5 YEARS..

Jom, dont make things more complicated..hehehhe..RESIDENCE & WORK.. that what matters..

for an instance in my case..ive been in middle east for the last 2 years. Though I visited 3 more country there other than the country where my work was based. So before I left that country, I only secured the one police clearance & that is where my work was based..

i just hope i made myself clear here now.. :)

goodluck!

Just a small point, but the actual requirement is to have a police clerance certificate from each Foreign (non Philippine) country where you have resided for 6 MONTHS OR MORE (not MORE THAN 6 MONTHS) since you were 14 years old. That 1 day difference can affect you...as it did us. ugh!

Wishing Everyone Speed, Success, Happiness and Love,
