File for Green Card Extension at same time as N-400??

Hi everyone,

I'm wondering if it makes any sense to file an I-90 for extending my wifes' Permanent Resident green card at the same time as we concurrently send in her N-400 for citizenship?

We have waited till the ninth year of her green card to file for citizenship and are ready to send in a few days by paper, but just by way of covering our bases I was wiondering about the I=90.

We have NO reason to expect my wife to have any problem with the N-400 process, if anythig she is an exemplary immigrant with a great job in the public school system, but with waiting times, unexpected developments etc..?

We are aware of the two year extension once the N-400 is accepted as well but I wouldn't mind having her I-90 application in process if it doesn't complicate things at USCIS.

Many thanks in advance for your thoughts!

Makes no sense to spend $$ on both. I'd go for N400. File online

Immigration journey is not: fast, for the faint at heart, easy, cheap, for the impatient nor right away. If more than 50% of this applies to you, best get off the bus.

She will almost certainly be a US citizen two years after filing the N-400, but if nothing happens in a year or so, file the I-90 then if you're concerned. Also, filing online is not only faster but much safer too! You'll get the receipts immediately (as well as other notices, including the interview date/time notice!) and the system can eliminate a bunch of potential reasons for rejection.

Thanks much, are you referring to doing the N-400 online or the I-90 or both? Also what potential reasons for rejection would be involved in paper filing?

Tx!!

I'm referring to filing the N-400 online. A missing field or a signature could be a reason for a rejection (a rejection is not a denial). The electronic form will output an error if anything like that happens, so you can easily fix it before submitting it. And, as mentioned earlier, you'll get the PDFs of the receipts and other notices right in your account, so no need to worry about the mail.

You have helped us greatly, I'm switching over to online filing at once, I began the process in April, online, but we foot dragged and the 30 day limit to complete the application erased her work about half done.

Once again, Thank You!
