Assembling K-1 documents to handover to the Consulate Officer

Hi, we currently have a stack of 12+ inches of paperwork (photos, proof of relationship, I-134 documents, Relationship Timeline, all of the required documents, Family Tree, updated letters of intent, etc.) to give to the C.O. We know there will be a small slot at the window to handover documents to the officer.

I know everything should be arranged according to Part 4 of the Packet 3 Instructions, but we weren't sure how to exactly do this.

Do most people just put everything in the order that they want and hand over each document at a time? Give them one giant folder? Or should we split it all into 3 separate paper folders and hand them all 3 that way so that it fits through the window slot.

Thank you!

12 inches? Too much stuff. None is reading that.

Immigration journey is not: fast, for the faint at heart, easy, cheap, for the impatient nor right away. If more than 50% of this applies to you, best get off the bus.

Keep the required documents separate from the relationship evidence.  From my own experience, the huge pile of relationship evidence is just for show, they won’t actually look at it, but we walked i. With two clear totes bags of paper and were ready to bury them with relationship evidence if asked! They will notice if you walk I. With LOTS of paper.

When you arrive at the consulate, they are going to tear through all your required documents and hand you back a pile of jumbled papers.  Don’t stress another, though.  You’ll have time to sort ever While you wait.  Just pay attention to the announcements as they were not always synced with the TV sceeens.

So, go with lots of paper, but prepare to shred most of it after the interview.  We had 1000 pages and shredded most of it the evening at the hotel’s business center.  Keep the important documents for adjusting status.

your are just a couple weeks fro

your interview.  Telax, enjoy your time together.  You will be fine!  Let us know how it goes. 😀

@JasonGG We passed! Similar to your experience we had brought 3 binders full of evidence and they asked for none of it. Just looked at a couple of our Engagement/Dinh Hon photos and said we passed and will receive the passport in about 2 weeks. Compiling all of the evidence, printing out hundreds of photos and 3 stacks of paperwork, and 9 months of worrying was definitely the hardest part of the K-1 process. They had already made a decision before they even met us.

So happy to hear that. We all know that the decision already made before the interview. Now just enjoy your trip in VN and ready for the fight with USCIS :) in USA.

Congrats!  Now on to AOS and the (slightly less than 129) headaches it entails!  FYI, I received an RFE for our I-864 because I did not provide proof of my US citizenship with it.  Seems silly as our 129 was approved, etc, but nonetheless I received it.
