It is written in immigration law that a tax return and I-864 are required from the spouse petitioner, even if you have zero income and a joint sponsor. (Or a reason for not filing, like unemployed so nothing to file.)

It’s different for a K1 in London doing the I-134 affidavit of support. You don’t need a tax return if you have other proof of income like an employer letter. And if you have a joint sponsor, they don’t require an I-134 from the fiancé petitioner. They just want a sponsor who qualifies. The law just says you have to convince the officer that the beneficiary will not become a public charge, but no strict requirements are set out.

I am in a similar position as Charlie87.   I submitted in early December 2020 and have my appointment on May 5.

I uploaded the Tax Return for my Sponsor (no US income) and Joint Sponsor (US income).  They have now both submitted 2020 tax returns, do you recommend I upload their new 2020 Tax Returns? (and take the print outs to the appointment)

If so, is it just a case of going on the application portal and uploading even though the application has been submitted or will I just have to wait and see if they 'green slip' me then upload after the interview?

If you have the transcripts for them, then yes I would just upload them on the system.

but sounds like you’ll be fine if you already have transcripts uploaded.

Hi,

I’ve tried scrolling through but can’t seem to find the answer.
I was DQ’d on February 26th. Anyone know roughly when our batch will be for interviews? My husband and I have been apart for months. He’s also missed a third of our daughters first year of her life. 😢 REALLY praying for it to be soon. Thank you.

The latest DQ date I could find for the May interviews was Jan 15th. We DQ’d Feb 17th so very much hoping to get into the June batch. It unfortunately isn’t very consistent with the amount of people they invite to interviews so is hard to predict. I really hope you get into the next batch too and get your family back together 🥰 xx

I saw a Feb 2 DQ who got interview date for May12 and was scheduled April 14 :) You might be on the next batch! So exciting!

Just an update to everyone.

had my interview yesterday. Got 221g slip. Uploaded the extra document on the same day and emailed them notifying them.

this morning at 8.58am I received an email from them saying that the officer is now reviewing the document.

at 9.08am received another email saying that my visa has been approved.

Status changed to AP at 9.15 and then an hour later it had changed to issued.

email from DX a few hours later.

passport to arrive tomorrow.

that is a 24hr turnaround even with a 221g. London is definitely moving quicker. As has been said before, London tries to work with you here rather than trying to trip you up. As long as you’re honest and straightforward, all will work out.

thanks to everyone on this forum.

Where do you check the status after the interview please?

Hi all

Just to update, my interview was yesterday at 10.30. I arrived at 9.50 (I'm just always early and they let me through). Proceeded through security etc and was given my ticket number and sent to the first floor to the waiting room. Was called for documents and handed over everything - they checked my medical was on the system (taken on 23/04) and that the affidavit of support was there - they told me they didn't need the physical copy with the wet signature or my hubby's tax transcripts as they were on there. Sent back to sit down and wait for interview part. They also took fingerprints at that window.

Called up to another window and swore the oath and did the interview. The lady said everything seemed fine and they would issue it and that it could take a couple of weeks for my passport to be returned with the visa in. I got a bit excited and then babbled on about how my hubby was in New Orleans for work and it was ridiculous o'clock time in the morning and how I couldn't wait to call him and wake him up and I'm sure the lady thought I was bonkers as I was clearly so excited!! 🤣🤦‍♀️  But, it was a really smooth process in my experience and I'm so thankful we're finally able to make plans to be together!

My status was AP first thing this morning and then changed to issued a couple of hours later - got the email from DX this afternoon that my passport will be available for collection tomorrow - I can't believe it's so quick!

We're super happy, and have cried lots of happy tears of relief and pure happiness over the past 24 hours!

Thank you to everyone in this forum for your help, support and general radness! 🥰 You're awesome!

That is really fast. Congratulations🥳

On your timeline, click “submit review” and copy/paste your experience in the review section so it is there for others to access. It’s good info about I-864 and quick turn around.

Congratulations. My wife had her interview today as well.

our case says “ready” when logged in now. Any idea what that means? Have they not updated yet is my guess?

After interview it goes back to that. Then it will briefly say AP then change to Issued when the have done all the final processing and security clearance. Hers happened all in one day. Fast! Sometime takes 2 or 3 days.
