I believe the Form I864 itself is just about 11 pages plus w2 (1 page), proof of payslips 6 months (around 10 pages) plus the tax transcript which if i remember correctly, less than 3 pages?! I forgot but that’s the gist

That sounds right. Much less than 100 pages that @Muso303   mentioned.
And all of that should be in the uploaded file so already at the interview for review. Several people with returns instead of transcripts were told their W2 was not in the file and had to upload again.

When the embassy was fully staffed doing lots of interviews, the calendar of appointments was never that far out. Like right now you would only find April and May dates. Those were typically K1 fiancé visas or DCF spouse visas because they schedule their own appointments. DCF filing is pretty much over since the USCIS office in London closed permanently. K1 interviews were suspended March 2020 except for a few exceptions. Thus the calendar during covid times isn’t updated with many open dates, if any. The last of the DCF group said they would check each morning or refresh and a date or two would show up eventually.

So say NVC gave you a June 5 date. The procedure is to wait until June 6, then log into your account and pick a new date.    In pre-covid times, you would not find anything beyond July. By the end of June, there would be some July still not taken and August would open.  With the visa unit’s current limited staff and interviewing schedule, the calendar is not populated with much as explained earlier. Most people interviewing are IR1/CR1s who are assigned dates at NVC so the calendar is kinda dormant. Things may change by the end of summer as the pandemic situation evolves. Right now it’s all a guess, as is when the NVC may schedule you.

You will have the option to change an interview you don’t want. You might have to work harder to find a date,  or by that time things may be eased up and the calendar is once again abundant with dates and K1s grabbing them up. I personally would not contact NVC and ask them to delay sending your file to London. You might get lost that growing purgatory of K1 files who have been trapped at NVC for a year now. You might be calling them saying “Hey remember me? I asked you to hold my file until August. It’s September now. What? You can’t find it now, but I can ask again if I haven’t heard from you by November.” Getting released to London is the best progress for your file. The entire world is bottlenecked at NVC.

I appreciate the thorough answer. Do I have to wait until the day after I miss my appointment though? Is it not possible to call the embassy and request an appointment change at all?

That seems to be their written policy and what they reply to people who email. They say wait until the original appointment has passed and go back into the visa appointment services and click I have missed my appointment.  It may be because a couple of years back, everybody (Including all the K1s) could log in and find something earlier than original so would cancel and pick a new date. The somebody else would find that cancel and so on... There was a lot of switching and cancels going on. Newer policy seemed to stop all that switching to wrangle a sooner appointment. The original has to pass before a new one given. They tell you to register your original date as instructed before you can pick a new one.

You can’t call and get any service from the immigrant visa unit. You have to use their contact form and ask. And it doesn’t ever hurt to ask. You might get a sympathetic person on the other end of your email.

Go down to the last option—“Still have a question?”

CR1 - DQ'd 8th October, original interview on 01/03 was postponed to 08/04 but finally approved at interview yesterday. Very straightforward interview process and it all went smoothly at the London Embassy. They're super professional but friendly working in a modern, clean and very spacious building. Couldn't help but let out a little cheer when the interviewer said she'd approve our visa at the interview window!! The whole process was 1 hour, but most of that was made up by waiting between the two stages of presenting documents (stage 1) and the interview itself (stage 2). I will post a full review later but SO, SO relieved and SO, SO happy to be near the end of our rollercoaster immigration journey. Just waiting for my passport to be couriered back up to me in Edinburgh in the next week or two :)/ Thank you to everyone on here for their support and information and good luck to everyone who is waiting at the different stages.

Congrats. Well deserved is an understatement. :)

Hi there.

Has anyone had a date for an interview for May yet? I think there should be another tranche of dates released this week based on previous trends.

I personally have not heard anything yet (DQ January 4th) and others are usually pretty good at posting as soon as they hear! I'm also expecting next set of dates to be released this week. When were you documentarily qualified?

Thanks

I was DQ on the 8th March so suspect I'll be waiting for another few months before I hear anything.

We DQd 6th jan (children) 19th jan (husband) so anxiously awaiting date releases hopefully this week.

Just out of curiosity has anyone been in a similar situation of having family with different DQ dates? 😊

Hello all - Had my interview Wed April 7th - given a green 221g slip. Sent required information - have noticed that my status is now saying ready, after showing refused from Wednesday. They kept my passport. Is the fact that they kept my passport and now tell me "READY" a good sign ???

Thank you in advance and well done all of you that have got great news recently and good luck to all that have interviews coming up....
