Just received IL today - 4 November. Unfortunately the date is the only day we can't attend due to my brother's wedding in the States. I have looked online but we are unable to register yet I am assuming it takes a couple of days to get into the system, but once it does will the portal allow you to move the date? Additionally, if we decide to go ahead with the 4th, do they take my husbands passport?? Thank you!

I'm sure I saw an option in the portal to re-arrange the date if I recall correctly. There's instructions via email/your appointment letter in how to rearrange the date somewhere. Regarding the passport, they take away the beneficiary's to then apply the visa inside it. So if your husband sponsored you, then it's your passport they take. If you're the one sponsoring him, then it's his passport they will take when you attend the interview.

Hey!!! Noooo 😭😭😭 I just saw that someone that also got DQd on July 1st got their letter. But not me. When is your appointment?! And congrats!!! Surely I’m next in line…? 😭

Oh no i’m sorry!! I DQ’d June 28th and my hubs interview is Nov 1st. Another person with a July 1st DQ also had an interview for Nov 1st on discord… Lots of people with later DQ’s received a letter so I don’t know why you haven’t.

I would start contacting your (or your partner’s - whoever’s American) local representative & also contact the NVC at this point

How did you guys register online for courier service? Which option do we select? Is it the “I have received a letter/email from consular section with instructions to schedule an immigrant visa appointment”?

Yes, that's exactly it.

Is the ds260 number that you have to fill in during courier registration the confirmation  number you get when documentarily qualified? Starting with AAfollowed by eight digits? And furthermore when are you supposed to register for courier? Because ours is showing not ready for an appointment when we tried to schedule today- I guess we have to wait couple of days once we received the IL for the systems to update?

Ours is doing the same, from what I have read it takes a couple of days to process into the system, oh the fun!

I have contacted NVC. Not sure if I can contact a local rep because I'm in the UK with my husband (I'm the USC).

I'm SO SAD though... and SO STRESSED! I saw a woman on Facebook put she got her letter on Wednesday as well, but she had been DQ'd in MARCH! ...I'm so discouraged. We have done everything right, but somehow are the only unlucky ones that might have to wait months and months for an interview.

How long does it take for the embassy to return passports after the interview? I have my interview on November 1st and was hoping to fly out to the US on the 16th, is this too soon to book flights?

You can book cancellable / flexible tickets, but ideally you should book flights after visa and passport in hand.

How do you know you won't be placed in admin processing?

I received my passport with my visa inside five days after my interview. Considering that includes a weekend, it was three working days which was incredible and not what I expected. I did pay extra for expedited delivery to my chosen address however.

I absolutely agree with OldUser. I wouldn't even think about booking flights until you have your passport and visa in hand. I didn't start any kind of process of finalising my accounts in the UK until the day I had my visa in hand.
