Co sponsor. Affidavit of support. Original or copy for embassy

Hi everyone  I’m going to fill out the affidavit of support form as a cosponsor for my God son. The petitioner is signing the affidavit for his mom (the fiancée). 
 

question 🙋

Can I send scan copy of the I-864 to the embassy or does it need to be original with signature? 

Does the petitioner have to note somewhere that they are using a cosponsor for the child of their finance or do I simple fill out the form stating I’m the cosponsor? 

also, is it necessary for a cosponsor if the petitioner makes over $30,000 with no dependent? 
I want to increase the chances of my friend getting approved so would it help that I sign for my God since I make a very decent income with no dependents right now. 
 

FYI, I’m filing for my parents but with my income I will still meet the guidelines.

We used photocopies back when we did it, but consulates sometimes require originals, so YMMV.  I would go with originals if you can swing it logistically.  There is no need for the petitioner to note they are using a co-sponsor, they just need to submit the co-sponsor’s I864.  Also, you cannot be the sole sponsor as you are not the petitioner, the petitioner has to fill out their own I864 even if they make zero dollars, so you are doing it properly by being a co-sponsor to the main, petitioning sponsor.

It is confusing, the OP states the petitioner is a son, but calls the beneficiary a fiancé.

Please clarify, is this a K1 visa or an IR5 visa?  I assume your God son is the petitioner, and you indicate he is petitioning his mom, but you call her a fiancé and posted it in the K1 forum.

Oops. Sorry for the confusion. It’s a K1 finance visa. I’m not the petitioner. My friend is the fiancé of the US citizen (the petitioner) and she has a son who is my God son.

Then an I-864 is not applicable.

So you are talking about an I134, and yes, my comments above still apply, the USC petitioner still needs their own I134, and you as the co-sponsor will provide a separate I134.

Ok. So my friend said that her fiancé made 45k on recent tax return. Based on the poverty guidelines, the petitioner can sponsor a household of 5 people, correct? This means they don’t need a cosponsor right? It’s just the US petitioner with no dependent, the foreign fiancé and her son.

I’m so confused. 😕 I really need help. 
My friend (the foreign fiance) wants me to act as a cosponsor for her son. Her interview is coming up very soon. When I fill out the I-134, the beneficiary will be her son, correct? The Petitioner is not required to fill out a form I-134 for the son? I just want to make sure I’m doing this correct. Thanks again for all your help

The main beneficiary is the mother (fiancé) with a K1.  The son would be a K2 and should be included in the main I134 if he is coming with the mother, so only one I134 from the USC petitioner and one from you that applies to the main beneficiary (mother).  To my knowledge, the K2 is a derivative of the K1.
