Timeline

The VJ guide says 2 photos of petitioner and 2 photos of spouse.

Senior Master Sergeant, US Air Force- Retired (after 20+ years)- Missile Systems Maintenance & Titan 2 ICBM Launch Crew Duty (200+ Alert tours)

Registered Nurse- Retired- I practiced in the areas of Labor & Delivery, Home Health, Adolescent Psych, & Adult Psych.

IT Professional- Retired- Web Site Design, Hardware Maintenance, Compound Pharmacy Software Trainer, On-site go live support, Database Manager, App Designer.

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

No worries.  No problem.  If the foreign spouse isn't in the USA, you didn't even need to send one for them.  Yes, instructions say two, but that instruction is an artifact.

I found online that only one of my passport photos was needed on a few sources so I just sent one. 
 

so will I be ok having sent just one of myself?

Yes.  Lots of misinformation online, so that's not a good name for a good source.  This time, the source was correct.

 

Facts are cheap...knowing how to use them is precious...

The source was multiple embassy websites, they produce check lists for foreign spouses who are living in country how to file and what to include. I used this from my husbands home country and it said just one of each of us

"Online" is not specific.  Embassy websites are great sources.  The two passport photo instruction from USCIS is an artifact from 15 or more years ago.  Same with the six months of pay stubs, but even an older artifact.

 

Facts are cheap...knowing how to use them is precious...
