No limitations or need for advance parole .. nada?? The entire family is planning a cruise in August for ALL of us and I just want to make sure..

yes, they can leave and come back without Advance Parole...

Some countries though have different requirements for permanent residents (greencard holders) entering their country so you might want to look into that....

Marilyn is correct. Just check before you travel if you go out of the states.

An original Alien Registration Card is required, along with a national passport (passport from country of birth). Passport can be expired up to 5 years.

Since some of those countries have close relations with Europe, it might suffice that your husband has an EU-passport. I'd check the websites of the countries to make sure, but I don't think there will be a problem given the combination of US-green card and EU-passport.

Hi Cari !

No Q is stupid, as this whole process is so complex sometimes.

Yep. They can indeed travel, as with a CR1-the AP comes along with it. That is exactly why Graham and I chose it...We have a friend who was waiting on an AP, and sadly his dad fell ill. Eventually he got an emergency AP, but he never got to say goodbye to him. He arrived to tend to his mum a day after his dad was buried. Knowing this, we never went to the K3, and decided for us, this was our best option.

Thankfully, my in-laws (God bless them) are very healthy, but things do happen unexpectedly.

So, yeah-long story short-your boys can go anywhere they want !

This is why I am choosing the CR1 to well part of the reason. D's dad has altimers so we dont know when he will go and he would like to say bye.

Yeah you can travel on this one and get a job right away and not wait so long to drive. Okay thats not what you ask. They will have no problem traveling

Cari,

Travel, yes. As they wish, maybe not. Travel to places such as Cuba, North Korea, and alquida training camps are seriously frowned on.

Where will the cruise be going?

Rose,

No, AP does not come along with a CR-1. AP is completely unnecessary for someone who enters the USA using an immigrant visa.

And why did AP factor into your decision to not use the K3 route? K3 is a multiple-entry visa good for 2 years, AP not needed during that time. Most people become LPRs before their K3 visa expires.
