Hello. I just had my medical for my CR1 visa. The clinic mentioned that everything would be sent directly to the embassy and only a vaccination worksheet would be emailed to me.

I showed them the note on the state gov page that says chest x rays must be carried when entering the US. However they wouldn't budge and said they don't give anything to the applicants in hand and that I should contact the embassy instead, when I go for the interview.

Has anyone else faced this before? Is this the new process?

I had my X-rays on a disc with me to the US, but I think nowadays everything is electronic for the most part. I have never heard of anyone who actually needed their x-rays for anything other than the result written down in the final medical report that is sent to the embassy. The disc/DVD I got is apparently not even readable unless you have a certain program, something not even the immigrations has by what it seems.

So no, I wouldn't worry about it. All the immigrations/embassy wants is the final medical report, it will have the results of your x-rays on it. You will never need the x-rays for anything yourself.

Mine were on film which I carried, not sure why, threw them away a few years later.

Same for my then fiancé. I think she may still have them somewhere, but no one ever asked for them.

To the OP, don't lose sleep over this, the process has changed to a mostly electronic system.

Good Luck!

You could ask at the  interview about the instruction, but i am pretty sure you get either

1. shoulder shrug.. No issue

2. explanation that all is digital

But, CBP don’t ask about xrays

and yes, 8 years later,  ours remain on the cd in the bottom of the storage  chest .

When you receive your visa it will almost certainly be annotated “IV Docs in CCD” which means x-rays and everything else that used to be in the hand carried packet has already been been transmitted electronically to the Consular Consolidated Database.  So there is nothing to carry other than the visa.

I learned that K-1 visa applicants receive the X -Ray and carry them with them but all other visas do not. My husband was recently issued his CR1 and he wasn’t given anything in hand. His visa indicated everything is electronic. However, I have a friend who came in with a K-1 last year and she had to carry her X-Ray with her.
