Tentative plan for 751+N400, but need some advice

My wife just entered CR1 yesterday, and she is short of two years of marriage, so she will get conditional GC regardless.

We have been browsing with all the terrible wait for 751 approval and the potential of filing N400 while 751 is still pending. Now, we have some concerns about our unique situation:

So, she won't be eligible to file for 751 until June 2026. However, we tentatively plan to move to the east coast for her med school in 2027. So, if we filed her 751 in June 2026 at the current location and then filed N400 a year later, after everything is received, we will move to the east coast. Will they transfer all files to the local office? Or will these add more time & complexity to the case? Or should she file N400 after we settle on the East Coast?

Thank you!

Wait and file the N400 after the move, and after three months have elapsed in the new USCIS district you will be living.

Good Luck!

In addition, applicants are required to show they have resided for at least three months immediately preceding the filing of Form N-400 in the USCIS district or state where the applicant claims to have residency (See 8 CFR §316.2(a)(5) & §319.1(a)(5)).
