What is the harm in sending them your RCMP certificate? They are valid for 2 years, and you should be very close to hearing back. One less thing they'll need.

Oh I agree with you 100%! I don’t see the reason for not sending it. But on the other hand, if I was told NOT TO then why should I go against that … which is why I send my initial email to inquire.

it’s in the mail now… fingers crossed

I know most Canadians are kind of always smug and sneering when it comes to the US (the less popular brother syndrome) but I've always defended the country and considered it the best Earth and humanity can offer.

We all have a way of tasting our own medicine somehow I guess. My wife was also in the same boat even tho I warned her about the crazy way the US system operates.  Now she is slowly understanding that one of the biggest advantages the US has, is its  propaganda system it has fed all people living outside of the US.

... excuse me?

Not to go too far down that particular rabbit hole, but real estate in Canada's major cities (compared to income) as well as the state of our underfunded health care system (1 year+ for specialist referrals and medical scans) leave little to be desired.

I'm Canadian-born and bred, but no country is perfect, and complacency in recent decades has resulted in major systemic issues that will take a generation to fix. That's not to say the US doesn't have some deep issues as well (fringe politics entering the mainstream, huge coverage gaps for working class individuals, inflated education costs, etc.), but the value prop for immigrating down south has become pretty strong for most working professionals in Canada who already earn a decent wage and are less likely to end up uninsured or what have you.

So we just got another unsolicited case last updated change to today.

The last one was on Jan 25, also unsolicited. Not sure what's going on, or if it means anything, because they're basically a week apart.

That’s movement!
Remind me again though, you were not specially asked for dS5535 correct? Just 221g with CV submission only?

You are about to clear, any day now.

Don't get my hopes up now haha

Would be a dang miracle if so 😭🙏🏼

Those organic unsolicited rapid updates are them working on your case as your clearances come in. Rapid updates a day or two apart , 2, 3 in a row are very good news when they occur a while after you send them your documents.

You didn't get a DS5535,  God gave you a high five, so thank him. Cv checks don't take as long.

Email them every two weeks or so to follow up, you should clear soon.

Yep we've been emailing at that frequency.. here's to hoping. It's strange the updates are a week apart, but I'll take anything. Thankful for it.

"Did they ask for your passport when they have you the 221g?

I wondering if taking my passport was a good sign, or if it was just a mistake by the CO.

Does your status explicitly say AP? Did you get any updates to indicate you were getting more vetting?

That is terrible that they told you a few weeks and it has been 10 months.

Has anyone tried going to the consulate in person to get more information? I live in Montréal, wondering if that is a way of getting additional information"

@Cadtoverm - the consulate kept my fiancé's visa and issued DS5535. We've been waiting since our August 2023 interview. We were told we would be sent an "email questionnaire" and it was the DS5535. Out of denial, we tried to talk to the officers at the consulate in Montreal, but they didn't let us inside. Not to be the bearer of bad news, but to save you a step since we already tried. 😅 I am so sorry to hear that you are stuck in your current circumstance. This is an awful and poorly streamlined process.
