Can you please tell me , What info/status under document delivery(passport status section) is showing on your Ustraveldocs account? Is it "your passport at/with consulate/embassy" or its empty only written passport delivery option or some other words. Thank you

@Pending DS5535 Can you please also answer above question. Thanks

This thread is for Montreal only. You need to ask these questions in the proper Country Specific forum. Any answers from members in this thread will not match up for you.

I am not sure which website is Ustraveldocs, i dont think we used this website. We just got a confirmation from UPS that it was delivered.

Thank you for your reply , I thought Ustraveldoc website is in use all over the world, but it look like this is some area specific thing.

I wanted to share my journey and offer hope to anyone who might have recently been given a DS-5535 after their interview in Montreal. Here is my timeline (IR1):

I-130 receipt date: November 14, 2022

I-130 approval: February 22, 2024

NVC case creation date: February 26, 2024

DQ’d at NVC: March 13, 2024

IL received: August 29, 2024

Interview: October 29, 2024 - told I was conditionally approved. Case stayed at “ready” on CEAC for 3 weeks afterward

CEAC updated to “Refused” after congressman reached out: November 19, 2024

Received DS-5535 via email: November 21, 2024

Submitted DS-5535: November 21, 2024

CEAC status changed to “issued”: December 6, 2024

Took 2 weeks (8 business days since consulate closed for 2 days for Thanksgiving) for DS-5535 to clear. Passport hasn’t been shipped yet; I need to see about switching to purolator via email inquiry, as I can no longer do so on the AIS site. So sorry for all those still waiting. I was fully expecting 8 months at minimum, but was prepared to wait well over a year.

For context, the reason I was told the consular officer could not issue my visa right away was because I had a previous incident of not being let in at the border. I was allowed to withdraw my application to enter and explained this, but she said she needed to verify this before she could issue my visa. She said it should only take a day or two. We started to panic when it had been 3 weeks with no changes. I really feared getting a delayed DS-5535. I was born and raised in Canada, have only ever been in Canada, the US, and Mexico (once when I was 15). I don’t work in tech/research/any field which might have triggered it.

I hope you all see some resolution soon!

Finally some good news to report (after 6 weeks of waiting after medical /photos submitted and 2 months without passport)! - visa status changed to issued today!

Our brief timeline:

Dec 13, 2023 - Interview

Dec 13, 2023 - DS-5535 submitted

Aug 8, 2024 - Passport request

Aug 15, 2024 - Passport delivered to consulate

Oct 8, 2024 - Second medical request and photos

Oct 10, 2024 - Medical completed

Oct 17, 2024 - Passport photos delivered

Oct 23, 2024 - Medical sent

Nov 29, 2024 - Visa Issued

I will post another update when passport is in hand to give complete timeline.

There doesn't seem to be a logic, rhyme or reason of issuing visas. Many of you like myself sent your documents and medicals weeks ago and are still waiting whereas others were issued within 1 week of document submission.  This whole DS-5535 experience is nothing short of an inhumane and degrading experience. We are very thankful to this community for all the guidance and support throughout this past year.

I pray that all of you in this hell escape soon and are reunited with your loved ones.

Updating timeline one last time since getting flagged with that awful 221g-DS-5535 to Visa Issuance with passport in hand.

- Visa was issuced on CEAC on 29NOV2024.

- Tracking was not provided until 03DEC2024.

- Given the snow delays and whatever else, received passport today (07DEC2024).

I want to thank all of you for your guidance and support during this past year and I pray that all of you get your visa issuances soon!

Its been now 5 weeks since they have my passport and new medical. Last update on ceac is on Nov 19th and nothing after that. Did u guys reach out to consulate asking for an update after they have your passport and medical for such a long time? Im wondering if I should reach out to senator again asking for an update.

@EveK - YES!! inquire with your senator and congressman. I think thats what pushed our case over the finish line. It took them a whole week to respond but when they did, they issued the visa.

I hope you hear some good news soon!

Congratulations! I got my visa issued on Nov. 13th and my passport has been stuck in the postal network since then. So even you got yours later but probably you will get your passport back before I get mine. Happy Holiday!

Thank you so much! I hope and pray you finally get your passport. For us it said 1 day for ETA from when we received our tracking number. However, it took 4 full days. Kept getting stuck at different sorting facilities and weather delays.

I could only choose and pay for the Premium Delivery Service to receive your documents.

To send the document, I don't see where to generate a courier-in certificate in my account. I think I will try to contact them.
