Finally some good news to report (after 6 weeks of waiting after medical /photos submitted and 2 months without passport)! - visa status changed to issued today!

Our brief timeline:

Dec 13, 2023 - Interview

Dec 13, 2023 - DS-5535 submitted

Aug 8, 2024 - Passport request

Aug 15, 2024 - Passport delivered to consulate

Oct 8, 2024 - Second medical request and photos

Oct 10, 2024 - Medical completed

Oct 17, 2024 - Passport photos delivered

Oct 23, 2024 - Medical sent

Nov 29, 2024 - Visa Issued

I will post another update when passport is in hand to give complete timeline.

There doesn't seem to be a logic, rhyme or reason of issuing visas. Many of you like myself sent your documents and medicals weeks ago and are still waiting whereas others were issued within 1 week of document submission.  This whole DS-5535 experience is nothing short of an inhumane and degrading experience. We are very thankful to this community for all the guidance and support throughout this past year.

I pray that all of you in this hell escape soon and are reunited with your loved ones.

OMG I am soooooooo happy for you, I always wished you got issued because you waited so long. Finally!!🥳🥳 hopefully we all get issued soon aswell!! Congrats a million

Passport was available for pickup at BLS location two days after ‘issued’, we never had a ‘case approved’ , status jumped from refused to issued same day and it was a Monday. thank you to everyone here for there support. no extra docs were needed at land border crossing but we took marriage certificate in case. we hope everyone here gets to experience the relief soon. We were in AP almost 7 months. issued status took 1 month after we had sent documents which was the most annoying wait but it is possible that reaching out to senator finally set things in motion to get the thing stamped. looks like we had been  ‘cleared’ back in september but didnt get request for documents till october so maybe reaching out to senator earlier might have sped things up more. just some thoughts.

QUESTION about SSN.

We told border people that address had changed so they updated it for GC delivery.

For SSN it seems more complicated… we talked to a phone rep today who said theres no way to know where it will go it might go to old address but we can go to our local office to see if they have any info but we might need to be issued another one if the first one indeed go to our previous location… which is annoying…

anyone had any experience with this or advice on what to expect?

Congratulations! I got my visa issued on Nov. 13th and my passport has been stuck in the postal network since then. So even you got yours later but probably you will get your passport back before I get mine. Happy Holiday!

Hi everyone,

I had my visa interview at the Montreal consulate on October 15, 2024, and my case was put under AP with a DS-5535 form and my CV submitted—possibly flagged under TAL since I work in AI. On October 17, I received an email requesting my passport, which I sent the same day. It was delivered to the consulate on October 18, and I noticed a few unsolicited case updates in the next two weeks. My last update was on November 6. I emailed the consulate on November 12 to confirm if they received my passport and inquire about my case. On November 29, they acknowledged receipt of my passport and stated: "The case is currently pending review by a consular officer."

Does this mean my AP is finished and is awaiting final review, or has the consular officer not sent my case for AP yet? Any insights or similar experiences would be appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

Yes. If it is awaiting review by consular, it mean your AP is done. Visa will be issued once consular approve your case

At least you've got the pass request email.

I am in AI field too and was put in AP and asked for my resume upon my interview on September 20 but since then I've had only one update on Oct 8...

Are you born in Iran or the other 6 countries that the US always tend to put the males (even 11 yrs old) in AP by default?

I wasn’t born in Iran or the other flagged countries. Have you tried following up with the consulate?

I've sent them a follow up email 2 times since then but they don't even bother to reply me with a generic email template😥

To track your green card, you can create a USCIS account with the information on your visa  https://myaccount.uscis.gov

Thank you so much! on the website, which option did you select to track your green card?
