Our documents were sent in on Oct 15. On Oct 18, we got an email confirming that the documents were received. Oct 21 was the last time they touched the case. Finally, today, they reached out asking for the SAME documents that were already shipped and confirmed received on Oct 18. They requested a police report and passport pic again, claiming it was expired!!! Has this happened to anyone? Does anyone know of a phone number we can call?

Wow seriously thats insane! I also had my interview around the same time as u on Aug 7, 2023, but they did not request a new police check for u. Only asked for passport, new medical and new photos. I emailed them over 2 weeks ago asking if they have received my passport, medical and photo but got no response. They received everything on Oct 29th. So far updates on ceac were on Oct 31, Nov 4, 5 and 15th. This is the number found on the Montreal US consulate website 514-398-9695. Hope you can find an answer from them asap.

Medical was received by consulate on 22OCT and passport photos on OCT 17.  It is now the end of the 3rd week since they've had everything. Lets see what next week brings.

WOW that is LONG

I received passport req on Nov. 4th, sent everything on Nov. 5th, and Canada post delivered (shown on package tracker) on Nov. 6th. Last update on my CEAC is still Nov 4th as of now (11:30am EST Nov 15th).

Let's see how long it will take for them to stamp...

It’s honestly so frustrating how disorganized this consulate is. You’d think something as important as immigration would have a smoother process, but instead, they’re asking for the same information they’ve already requested. How does that even happen? In our case they requested documents two months apart. 🙄 It makes you wonder if the emails and case files are even being reviewed properly or if there’s just no internal communication on their end. It’s exhausting to sit around waiting for a decision while dealing with mistakes that could’ve easily been avoided.

I hope they clear you soon!

Looks like you cleared your AP fairly quickly.  Your Interview was Sep 16 and 1.5 months later they requested your passport. I think thats probably the fastest I have seen. Some of us have been waiting 8+ months while others waiting for over a year after their interview.

It’s frustrating when there’s no progress, especially when you know everything’s already been delivered and now entering the 1 month mark since all documents were submitted. At this rate— you could be approved in a week, five weeks or even longer. Fingers crossed it doesn’t drag on!

It is indeed very frustrating! I just got a response from them "This case is currently pending review by a consular officer. As soon as the review is complete, the Visa Unit will advise of the next steps if anything else is needed to complete processing the case." This was related to my inquiry sent over 2 weeks ago. I really hope they don't ask for police check next. Just wondering if I should contact senator to inquire about the status.

Yeah it also surprised me when I received the passport req as I was expecting 6-8 months of time.

I think it is likely because I am EB instead of FB. As far as I know, in Guangzhou, China, where IV applicants are mostly EB, their AP usually takes 1 ~ 3 months to clear instead of more than half a year. Considering that many AP cases (especially DS 5535) are sent to DC for processing, I would assume the AP clearance time highly depends on whether it is EB or FB. EB usually takes shorter for maybe being more straightforward, just checking employment validation and possible security threat, and FB is longer for them to check like financial support, family history, possible security and even "fake" marriage, etc... In Montreal, probably most applicants are FB, making the average processing time super long

Is there any specific day of the week when the Montreal consulate sends emails requesting the passport and medical? I mean do they have to assign any day of the week to respond, for example, either Monday or Tuesday to send such emails for asking the passport and medical? Has somebody noticed it?

Hi guys, with the Canada Post strike, is there another way for us to send the requested documents? My husband and I also got requested new medicals and new photos. Do you think they’ll need a new police check too? They didn’t ask for one but it’d be frustrating if they ask for that too after we mail the other documents. Thank you everyone!

I'm glad your case processed in a timely manner, however, I don't think so it is because of EB case. I'm waiting for my EB visa to be cleared (after DS-5535) +11 month after interview and still I didn't get any unsolicited update.

If you find an answer to this let me know, I also have to send my stuff in and can't.
