I just dont get it. I filed a WOM it was dismissed. My interview was last Nov 2023 and I am still waiting but people with interviews after me are getting approved. Not to sound like a debbie downer but this process is ridiculous. I have a life on hold because of this process and it is the most frustrating thing ever. I want to buy a home and start a family but I am not allowed to because of this immigration process that is never ending.

Not only approved, but IV stamped passport on the way already!  Aware of a case that interviewed this past January (2024) which went into AP with DS-5535.  Consulate received his documents on Sept 5, went to Issued status two days ago and today received tracking number for passport.  It’s beyond infuriating!!! It makes no sense to be angry at him; I’m merely incensed with the Consulate 🤬

You mean 1 year from the date of interview? The form is usually filed before appearing for interview. My DS-260 is still locked for further changes.

The DS-260 immigrant visa application expires one year after signature.  If a case is delayed due to AP/DS-5535, just prior to clearing, the status will change from “Refused” to “Expiring Soon”, and NVC or the Consulate will re-open the DS-260 (see below)

Our interview took place on July 21, 2023.  The DS-260 was submitted/signed in October 2022

I logged in upon receiving an unsolicited update on August 1 and updated the DS-260 a couple of days after.  Received the email requesting passport, etc on August 8

Hi @CarmenD! My interview was on September 27, 2023 and I have signed my DS-260 on March 22, 2023. If we consider the date of DS-260 being signed, then 1 year already passed and it should be open by now. If we consider date of interview then I still have few days left. Correct me if I am wrong.

Log in to your CEAC/NVC account and take a look.  “Re-Opened” in red letters on the lower right hand side is what you’re looking for

Hi...my spouse's DS-260 was filed in Nov 2021, and the interview was in March 2024. So, do I need to refile my DS 260, or wait for the Montreal conuslate to ask for an update?

Monitor often via the CEAC/NVC website.  You cannot Re-open it unless and until it becomes available to do so (see screenshot I posted on this thread today)

Thank you @CarmenD! I just logged in to my ceac account and it’s locked and on the summary page it says “your case is currently being reviewed at the consulate you apply your visa”.

So everyone who has been in AP in Canada and then gets a medical/passport request has filled out a DS-260 (if its more than 1 year since the Document has been filled out) or only some people have?

thanks.

I can’t speak for anyone else, but I updated mine after an unsolicited update on August 1, 2024

I used to send emails and after 20 days or so I get a generic reply without updates. Recently I called twice ,give my case number and the agent says that I need just to wait, then the next day of each separate call I get an update. That's a solicited update.

Yesterday ,I get an update,I was happy for a moment thinking this is good news, and today I get a reply for an email sent mid August, was the update of yesterday unsolicited or solicited, they get me totally confused .

on the expiry date for the ds 260,    I noticed it is based off the date signed, however I am a bit confused on if that is the date I signed it or the date the NVC had it submitted or the odd expiry date on their website.  all 3 provide me different times.
