with CUPW on strike, what courier did they use to mail back your passport?

they used purolator! i got the email my package (my passport) would be sent back today and it was processing, and a couple of hours later i got another email notification that it was picked up by purolator so i am expecting to receive it in the next couple of days, if not then by early next week.

it was delivered and signed today so looks like it was accepted!

That’s good that fedex delivered your documents! My husband tried sending his documents through fedex but it looks like they didn’t deliver them. They’re holding the package at a pick-up center and I don’t think the consulate office goes on their way to do that so I’m stressing out. 😔 Do you think fedex will try to deliver it in person? Thank you.

Did you try to call FedEx to see why that happened? That’s odd mine just said delivered and signed. This is the address I used:

In the account there should be a button where you can request a document return. If you are unsure, use the contact us number on the website and they will walk you through it. Make sure you have your passport number handy. Once you go through the process you will be able to generate a courier-in certificate that you print and attach your documents to and send to the consulate.

If a remember correctly look through pages 130-150 of this thread and there should be some members who had the same question that were answered.

Best of luck!

Hi,

My spouse was put on DS 5535 at the Montreal consulate. Finally the Montreal consulate has requested for her Passport and medical. However, in the meantime her old Canadian passport expired and she has not got a new one. Two questions:

(1) Do we need to update the DS 260 for that? (2) Do we send both the old and the new passports? Thanks.

I was in the same situation a few weeks ago and I sent both passports to avoid any confusion and wrote a letter asking for both passports to be returned. They put the Immigrant Visa in new passport and returned both. I also wondered if they would reopen DS-260 and ask me to update it but they didn't.

We're in the same situation -- sent my husband's renewed passport along with the old one which is now invalid, explaining in an email what we were doing.

Your response is reassuring that this shouldn't cause additional delays! 🙏🏼

Hi,
After submitting details against DS5535 ~6 months ago to the Montreal Consulate, my spouse was asked for Passport, Photos and 2nd Medical in Oct.

The passport got delivered (using Consulate's preferred method of return) on the Oct 24th (as per Canada Post Tracking, signed by a Mr. Phillips) and 2nd medical transmitted at the end of Oct.
Upon email inquiry sent around 3rd of Nov, Consulate confirmed on the 19th of Nov that they have received the medical but for the passport mentioned the following;

"Please note that all mail directed to the U.S. Consulate General in Montreal is received at an offsite mail processing facility. It takes additional time before the mail actually reaches the Visa Unit."

We had requested the Senator to inquire as well, and they gave the same response to her office. Now we are worried that Canada post tracking shows  passport delivery on 24th Oct & till 22nd Nov consulate has failed to Acknowledge receipt. Has anyone experienced this kind of a delay ?

We experienced a similar delay in receiving acknowledgement of my husband's passport delivery.

This is our timeline:

October 29: Brought passport & photos to courier BLS Montreal, who uses Purolator

October 30: Tracking via Purolator showed delivery and signature from "Steve"

November 5 & 13: Multiple solicited emails to us and my senator with the exact language you quoted regarding the offsite mail processing

November 22: Email via my senator's office indicating that the passport & photos had been received November 20

I feel like if your has been signed for, it must be true that it's in a pile somewhere and someone WILL touch it soon and connect it to your spouse's case. I hope soon 🤞🏼

Has your visa status on the ceac.state.gov portal changed from 'Refused' as yet ?

Not yet. It seems the time to "issued" is variable, so we're trying to give it some time. Will definitely share when it changes.

Let us know when your passport is officially received!

@mariagomez could you please share did you update AIS with "Request Premium Delivery"? If yes, this should be done after status changes to Issued? Or they did automatically send via purolator due to Canada Post Strike?
