I know of another person that has had their visa issued two weeks ago. (Nov 4 week) and since then its been radio silence. I really hate that there is no consistency to any of this.

@221gM @candy895 @DuBrun20 @g_canadian @apsincejune23 @EveK I think we all had our documents sent in around the same time. Has anyone gotten their visa issued or any new case status updates?

I had updates on Nov 15, 18, and 19th today. Nov 15th, they acknowledged receipt of my passport, medical and photos. Nov 18th, they requested Ds 260 updated form and to email them the confirmation page.(Done same day) Todays update I believe is related to the email I sent them yesterday. Status still showing Refused! 😑

We have been asked to send my spouse's passport to the Montreal consulate. With the ongoing Canada Post strike, who do I send it to them? Is there an email at which I can write to enquire.

Thanks

If it helps answer your question I sent mine through UPS yesterday and it was delivered today. Just make sure you go into your u.s. dos account and generate the "courier-in authorization certificate". You wont be able to send it VIA Canada Post because of the strike right now, but you'll need the third page of the courier-in receipt to attach to your package in a courier envelope when you send it along with the instructions and whatever else it says.

My medical and passport both arrived to the consulate today so I am joining the group of everyone waiting 😭

Is your DS260 more than one year old? It would have been most convenient if they had asked for it earlier?

I got the visa issued on Nov. 14th after both the senator's and the congressman's inquiries. The consulate released my passport on the same day. However, the strike started at 12:00 AM on Nov. 15th.  So my passport is stuck in some post office. I will miss my flight to the U.S tomorrow night.  My timeline as the following:

Aug. 2022 submitted the application

July 2023 the petition approved

Sept. 2023 DQed

Jan. 31st 2024 Interviewed. At the interview, the officer told me that they needed to have additional background check on me and I didn't need to submit any documents. the process would take several weeks.

May 26  after the first congressperson's inquiry, the consulate gave me DS-5535. I submitted it on May 28th.  Before the congressperson's inquiry, we sent the emails twice to the consulate and they all came back with the standard responses without asking for any documents. I still don't understand why I was given ds-5535 almost 4 months after the interview and the congressperson's inquiry. note: I didn't miss any documentation for a normal process.

luckily we bought a house in another state and my husband moved to the new place. Then we got a new congressman and his office started to push the consulate to process my case.

After multiple inquires, on Oct. 1st, the congressman's office forwarded the consulate's request for the second medical, the passport and the pictures.

Medical done on Oct. 8th and got the confirmation of the submission on Oct. 22nd

Passport delivered on Oct. 15th.

Nov. 14th issued.

I see that you’re E2, but from what I understand your spouse got DS 5535…so it’s a E2 but they won’t do the same checks as employment based applicants (right?).

It seems like IR/CR applicants that did interviews in January-March are next up.

Is anyone on here waiting for their visa status to change to issued, and with documents at Montreal in the E category stream?

I emailed the congressman on Nov 12 and they inquired same day. My visa was issued on Nov 15.

Hi! We are IR5 and we had our interview on 1/8/24 and we sent DS 5535 on 1/15/24. Complete silence since then and we only get typical responses when emailing them. We tried to follow up with the congressman but they said they can not help future the AP and only in other processes. Is this normal?

Also, what are your thoughts on WOM? It is almost a year (+10 months) and we have not received an update...

What is the way they acknowledged receipt of passport do they send a clear email saying they got it from that yatri address or do you just see an update on the courier service that it was delivered??

I emailed them asking if they have received my passport after I got the confirmation the courier service was delivered. They responded after 2 weeks that they acknowledge receipt of my passport and photos.

You would think that visa officers want to clear these backlogs and get these passports off their desks, but it appears that they need a nudge at every stage.

- Thank you for the insight. Will see what comes out of inquiring yet again. Keep us updated on when you receive your passport given the Canada Post strike.
