Hi all! For those who didn’t use the courier service specified by consulate , which address did you send the documents to?

I already tried courier service twice and package keeps getting sent back without being delivered! Not sure what’s going on so going to try to send through Canada post this time. This is the address I have:

US Consulate General Montreal

1134 rue Sainte-Catherine O

suite 100

montreal, QC h3b1h4

canada

is this correct?

thank you!

Here is the address, but please don’t attempt to send anything via Canada Post. I had a very poor experience with them, and there’s a risk the consulate may not accept or sign for it, or they might have a P.O. box, which could complicate things. Even when sent with the correct instructions, there are still a lot of concerns especially considering the long waiting times involved:

Is it me or does the ds5355 waiting time seem to be moving fasters(used to be 1-1.5 years 1-2 years ago and now 8 months)? Anyone has info on if they were able to reduce more of the backlogs or change the process? I remember someone mentioning changing the system 2nd half of 2024 earlier this year.

I've been holding my tongue on this but it does appear to be the trend. I've seen some folks get through in like 5 months now...

I've noticed that most people get a bundle of case updates and then see radio silence for a few months- I think this radio silence time is being shortened.

I had my bundled case updates. And now haven't heard anything for 3 weeks. I feel I might be in that radio silence period? So, I'm curious to see if it'll be 1 month or like...5. Idk, it's all an endless hypothesis haha. But it keeps the hopes high and maintains moral.

Is it possible that, due to the recent election, they have slowed their operations or perhaps even paused them in some cases?

The new administration doesn’t take office until January. So I really doubt any mandate was passed to change any process. Trumps admin is anti illegal migration, not against legal migration. I don’t see any factual evidence to suggest it would at this time.

People will point to mandates in 2020…when there was a strange unprecedented global pandemic looming. I’m not convinced that’s a valid comparison to 2024.

If hypothetically they cut jobs in that department and or reallocate that labor to deal with illegal migrant paperwork, then we could make an assumption that it would affect us. Until that happens, I’m not playing doomsday pretend games

Hi...that is usually a good sign. The visa will still continue to be in "refused" status till all the documents are obtained by the embassy and checked.  Once they are satisfied with the documents they will issue the visa.

Just checked my CEAC today (I've been checking it on a daily basis) and my case was updated on November 8th. But that date only changed today (November 14th). I know some people here keep an ear to the ground for case updates - so, just dropping this in.

To add to this. Our last update was Nov 6, and another one today Nov 14.

Today's case update was a solicited one for an email we sent out 2 weeks ago on Oct 30 asking for an update on whether documents were received (medical/passport photos).

Of course, they reply with their template response. 😠 - "We acknowledge receipt of documents, Case is pending consular review." ... SMH how much review does it need to stamp an IV on the passport. 😒🤬

Medical was received by consulate on 22OCT and passport photos on OCT 17.  It is now the end of the 3rd week since they've had everything. Lets see what next week brings.

I hope you have a quick turnaround, the consulate has all of a sudden became super slow. I wonder why

Our documents were sent in on Oct 15. On Oct 18, we got an email confirming that the documents were received. Oct 21 was the last time they touched the case. Finally, today, they reached out asking for the SAME documents that were already shipped and confirmed received on Oct 18. They requested a police report and passport pic again, claiming it was expired!!! Has this happened to anyone? Does anyone know of a phone number we can call?
