I provided a telephone number for Ontario Health in the reply.  Reach out to it for your own edification.    I worded my question very carefully to both representatives I spoke with to make it abundantly clear that my husband would be crossing the US border so we could search for/be shown/secure a home to move to, BUT that we needed to return to Canada to orchestrate both a UHaul and a moving company consolidated truck, followed by the permanent move.  I asked if the mere act of activating the US IV would invalidate OHIP coverage. I was told not, not until such time as the permanent move is complete.

The wording you used is the exact issue. You said you would be returning to Canada and making your permanent move later. Yes, the mere act of gaining PR in the US is when you endorse the visa. You cannot be a a resident in Canada while claiming to US immigration that you are a US PR the day you crossed. Your last Canadian taxes you will mark the day that visa was endorsed.  That is the day they will go by for everything. I swear I'm not making this stuff up. They have nailed many ppl for this, it may take them years but they do it all the time.

Anyway, I won't be derailing this thread any longer.

Hello everyone, I finally received the lovely email from the consulate requesting my passport, updated medical and two photos. Finally seeing some light at the end of the tunnel. My interview was on August 7, 2023.

@EveK - any updates on progress since? Have you completed your medical and submitted your documents and did you get any status updates?

In regards to updates on our case:

Aug 8. Passport requested

Aug 15. Passport delivered.

Jump two months later:

Oct 8. Medical exam and passport photos requested separately from passport (no idea why this was the case 🙃)

Oct. 10. Medical was completed (thankfully found an appointment) - shout out to Dr.Lyndon's office.

Oct 17. Passport photos delivered (issues with AIS website did not allow for a creation of a courier in authorization certificate, had to request help from helpdesk which took 3 BD)

We are now anticipating that the panel physician will submit our medical either today or Monday, and hoping for a quick turnaround from the consulate. Will update next week if there is any new movement.

For those waiting, be patient it appears there is a light at the end of this tunnel.

@DS5535TXCAN

Hey there, I have my second medical exam on Oct 21st at Dr. Lyndon's office. I didn't mail my passport and photos yet as the doctors office website says i will need to bring my passport on my appointment date. Im planning to mail the passport and photo after I complete my medical exam. The consulate requested all these documents on Oct 8th. You didn't need to bring your passport and copy of ds-260 form on your second medical appointment? Good luck, hope your visa is issued soon!

Did not need to provide DS-260. Medical office only wanted proof that the consulate had my passport, still brought a photocopy of my bio page as per their instruction. They also requested email proof of consulate of new medical request.

Ill keep you updated on when we hear back, fingers crossed!

I would also recommend sending the passport as soon as possible. We got confirmation that our medical was delivered, but they are still waiting on our passport even though it was delivered 2 weeks ago. It sounds like it takes time for them to actually get the passports from their receiving facilities, and that is the limiting factor for us.

Hello everyone, just wanted to provide a final update. I received my passport today with my stamped visa and will be officially moving within the next 10 days!! This has been a 3 year long journey for my husband and I and I pray that this day comes for all of you soon. Also I noticed that my clearance for 221g was received on the day of my first unsolicited update in August. So i suggest you contact your congressman soon as that is what pushes them to pick up the file in my experience.

All the best 🙏🏻

After long waiting, I got the request from Montreal embassy for the second medical and passport on Oct. 2nd. I had my physical done on Oct. 8th and the doctor said that he would email  the embassy to re-activate my case on the same day. However, until today, per the doctor's office, the embassy still has not reactivated my case yet so that the medical report wont be able to be submitted. I haven't seen that anyone said they were waiting for the case reopen in this forum.  Does anyone know anything about the process?

Did the consulate re-activate your case for doctor's office to upload the medical? I am in the same boat and been waiting for a week now for them to reopen portal for medical submission. Wondering how long it takes them.

I sent my passport on Oct. 11th and the tracking by the post office showed that it was received by the consulate several days later. Do you mean even after it is delivered, there is one more processing time period for the officer to get it at his hand? Where to check the status of the passport?

so you did your medical on Oct. 15th, wasn't it?  I did mine on Oct. 8th in Dr. Lyndon's office and he told me that the embassy usually was fast. but until Oct. 18th (Friday), my case still hasn't been opened.  From this forum, I never heard anyone had to wait for the embassy to reopen the case to have their medical submitted.

we also saw tracking from the post that it was delivered 1 day later, but we got an email two weeks later from one of our inquiries saying they were still waiting on the passport and photos. They explained in the email that passports are delivered to a receiving facility and it takes extra time for the consulate to actually receive them from there. We used the consulate courier service too

Yes, I completed my second medical on Oct 15th but Doctor Ian Zatzman's office asked the consulate to reopen the case on Oct 11th (the day I booked my medical appointment). Still waiting.
