Hi everyone! I had my interview in Jan 2024 was issued ds5535 still waiting for my good news however I noticed my case getting updated more often

usually every month the senator would request update on our behalf and it will update but this month I have 3 updates so far aug1,yesterday and one more today was wondering if this means anything also if I open my ds260 to view it would that case last update date to change?!

Usually that’s a good sign if you’re getting multiple unsolicited updates.
No, opening the DS260 will not cause a date change. If it’s open, some of us have gone ahead and updated it while others waited for the email.
If your status changes to “expiring soon” that’s a positive sign you should be getting the email request soon.

Now a days case is cleared in one unsolicited update from State Dept. Some folks are getting passport request next day after first unsolicited update. Rest of the updates if any are related to consulate internal review of the case. Our case was cleared in the third week of June as per annotation on visa but we received passport request email in the first week of July after 4 more unsolicited updates.

Hi folks I can see that there is a bunch of cases being resolved at Montreal. My interview was on 18-Apr-2024 and I have seen an unsolicited update on August 5th. I’m not sure if there was any other update earlier in August. Is there anything that changed that’s causing a lot of cases getting resolved lately?

Yes, boilerplate response, 3 weeks after sending.

"Thank you for your inquiry.  Your case was refused under section 221(g) of the Immigration and Nationality Act, and is currently under administrative processing... "

Hey y’all apologies for the long post in advance.

I just noticed another email (US Visa Personal Courier-In Instructions) come through last night asking me to send my documents and only the requested documents (in my case my passport) via courier. I am wondering if this is because I requested instructions for how to send documents back to the consulate. However, what peaked my mind is that it had the following snippet at the end of the email regarding interview waiver processing.

”Only include requested documents.

Interview Waiver processing times take between four to six weeks. Prior to completion of visa processing, your U.S. visa application status will appear as “No Status” when you perform an online check at https://ceac.state.gov/CEAC. The Consular Section will not respond to any email inquiries about your case until after the six-week processing time from the reception of your documents.“

does this mean the visa was previously approved and then put my application in ds5535 vetting and now they’re re-issuing it? I’m so lost 😅.

For reference the CO at the interview took my passport and put the purlator sticker

On the back and shortly after changed demeanour and said they needed more info and provided me with 221g + ds5535 and asked if I wanted my passport back, which I did take back.
