Today (June 13, 2024), I have received the reply to my email sent on May 23, 2024. Here is the  response:

"Please note that as soon as the administrative processing of your case is complete, you will be provided with the necessary instructions to renew expired documents such as your medical report."

My file status remained same as expected and status date updated to  June 13.

The email confirms that DS 5535 is still under review.

Fyi only:  Jan 24, 2024 was my interview. My medical expires in 2 days.

My interview was also January 24, 2024. What’s your category? What do you think could be the reason for ds5535?

CR1 (now it will be IR1). I think reason can be my work in engineering field.

Not 100% sure though.

It seems that it takes 3 weeks to get a response.  My inquiry sent on May 21 was responded on June 11.

Thanks for saying this!  I emailed on June 3 to update my phone number and wondered if I would ever hear back.  I'm also renewing my passport so I'll have to update them again when that's done.  There was plenty of time left on my current passport if I had been approved at my interview, but unfortunately not enough time to last through DS-5535.  (sad trombone🎺)

Married since 2016
I-130 Approved September 2023

DQ February 14 2024

Interview May 17 2024 - Refused

Submitted DS-5535 May 20 2024

Passport Request October 22 2024

Visa Issued Nov 5 2024

I received the standard response to my email (which I sent on may 26th) today. The previous two emails I sent (and responses) never corresponded with a case update (in fact, we hadn’t had one since March 8th). It looks like they opened it about the same time I got the email today. Thankful it was at least opened, even if I triggered it..

I emailed them today sending an additional document and never got an automated reply…I hope this doesn’t mean my email address is marked as spam 😬

Crazy that is takes 3 weeks to get an email response.

The automated reply just means they got it.. every time you send them an email, you will get that one right away! You will get another response in a few weeks 😅

I don’t believe you’ve emailed them enough at this point for your email to be marked as spam.

Three weeks not so bad, considering it took the consulate 3 months and a day to reply to a topic specific personalized email I had sent back in early March supplementing an answer to the DS-5535; and that was after 2 follow up emails I had sent as well.  That’s government for you!

We have no idea. 😞 Any idea what caused yours?

Extensive work related (plus vacation) travel (including many times to the U.S.) all over the world (Colombia, Mexico, Haiti, Malaysia, UAE, to name a few) in the span of 14 years.  My husband also has a very common Hungarian surname
