Thank you. I'm gonna need it.

What I don't understand though is how come none of the applicants on the spreadsheet are DVs? Its all family and employment based on this spreadsheet.

Because there is a forum for DV visas and most stick to that forum.

Hi, my husband is a DV24 winner. We are temporary residents of Canada, so we had an interview at Montreal last November. Our case number is small, so a year ago we were pretty sure we would be moving to US by summer 2024. If I had any idea how it all would turn out, I would do my best to transfer to another consulate.

As you probably guessed, Montreal put us in administrative processing. They didn't give us DS-5535. Just the resumes of me and my husband were asked. My husband's profession is in TAL. But I'm not sure why I am being verified as well though. I guess Montreal doesn't need much reason. 🤷‍♀️

So it's been six months of AP for us. So far we only received standard responses to our inquiries. September is getting closer, and we have no idea if we get approved.

Sorry if it sounds scary, but on the other side - I follow all Montreal 221g DV cases, and a bunch of them got approved in 2-3 months after the interview. So far just 5 cases, including ours, have been stuck since Oct-Dec 2023.

Thanks for the heads up. How are you able to follow the Montreal 221g DV cases? Do you use the charts by Xarthisius? Is there a DV forum for Montreal applicants ? I am a citizen of Syria, there is no US consulate there. The only place in the world I am a resident of is Canada. I could try Saudi Arabia but I will be a visitor there and not a resident which will make things tricky in terms of residency. I'm a university student.

Yes exactly, I use the charts by Xarthisius and the Case Tracker mobile app. I don't think there is a forum specific for Montreal, maybe just a general one.

Yep, I'm pretty sure they won't move your case to another country if you can't prove a residency. 😕 The best you can do here is prepare everything you can for an interview and just let it go. Most Montreal DV cases from DV23 have been resolved. So the statistics is not bad, no need to give yourself an extra pressure on this.

I think I am able to transfer my case anywhere in the world really. As long as I ensure that I can enter the country, which other than Canada (being a citizen), can't guarantee but it's very easy to get a visa for Saudi. I'll have to see which works out the best. I think Montreal is probably gonna be the choice though. I just have to let go I guess. Nothing I can do.

One more update (will do one more before signing off lol):

Our case says "issued" today! Marks 22 total updates since starting AP, and we're waiting to see when we get the tracking number and all. Hoping to get the passport back shortly this week, so we can plan the crossing this weekend :)

Was in AP since Nov 9, 2023.

Congrats !!

We also got DS-5535 and Resume request for IR5 category(Oct 2023). Consulate issued a visa to mom but served 221g to dad. Hoping other visa will be issued by end of this year.

Hi, I was also asked to send CV.  How did you send it?  Did you get an email from them or just send it to montreal-iv-dv@state.gov?  Thanks!

Can you share the name of the FB group? Don't post link as that is against the rules of this forum.

I was asked for my CV only (without DS-5535) and I've been waiting for 9 months now.

hello does anyone know if we can cross at the land border just to activate the visa and come right back?   I still have lots of things to take care of before I make the final move.     Whats the closest point of crossing to Montreal??   Thanks!
