Confusion about scheduling interview, K1 visa , Ciudad Juarez [merged threads]

Hello VJ, I have been looking for an answer to this for some time, and maybe this will be the best place to ask.

So far up to this point, I have been using the resources here to go through the K1 process ( thank you everyone, the information here is invaluable). Petition was approved, NVC received it and sent it to consulate in ciudad juarez.  On ceac, my case has been listed as ready since July 03 of this year. My fiancee and I have also completed the ds-160 on August 3rd and this is where I become unsure.

My fiancee has called the Mexico phone number for the consulate, and I have called the number provided for the US. Each of our calls told us to wait until we get sent an email which has an interview date and time already scheduled. According to them , we just have to wait and have nothing else to do for the time being. However, on the ciudad Juarez page on this website, I saw that the things the consulate tells you can be kind of iffy and not to be trusted. I have read many people's stories and it sounds like they scheduled the interviews themselves. After looking into that, I found a website which looks to be where you schedule an appointment. There it asks me to create an account after which I can schedule an appointment, but I can't create an account yet because it asks me to wait to be instructed to make an account, otherwise my appointment will be canceled the day of if I do it preemptively. So , which one is it? Do I schedule it myself? Is there further instruction I should be expecting in my email soon? The most recent document I have received via email was the K1-FTP page, but I have read about a so called packet with instructions and information about authorized physicians for the medical and how to pay.

Also, when I go on the ceac website and click on pay fee, it asks me for an invoice number which I have never received from anyone. I'm not sure if I need to pay visa fees before anything, or even how to do so. Up to this point, things have been pretty straightforward but I'm not sure what information is actually correct. The last thing I want to do is be waiting for something that is never going to come in the first place, wasting precious time.

Clarity on this matter would be extremely appreciated, if the consulate's information was correct and I just have to wait, id like to know. But if I'm missing something crucial that is stopping me from progressing, a pointer would be much appreciated.

Thank you for reading my post and I wish you good luck on your own visa journey 🙂

According to the thread below, you need to wait until the consulate sends you instructions and the interview date. This person reported waiting a few months which seems accurate for a busy consulate like Ciudad Juarez:

K1 applicants do not pay fees to NVC/Ceac. All payment is done at the consulate and I would wait for those instructions

  • 1 month later...

Hello VJ,

Today I received my email containing my fiancee's interview time and date. On the website to create our account for ASC, it asks me for my ds 160 number. We completed our ds 160 more than 2 months ago, and on there we selected the consulate that is closest to us. We were then informed that our interview will be taking place in ciudad Juarez , and the email says to put ciudad juarez as the location. Will I be screwed if I use my current ds160 number to sign up and pay for interview if the consulate is in a different city but everything else is correct? Or do I need to redo everything just to change the consulate location. The email says I only have 48h to register for ASC and I don't want to run out of time. Thank you 🙂

our interview will be taking place in ciudad Juarez

This is where all K-1 visa interviews occur in Mexico.  There are no exceptions.  Prepare to travel there.

Question: My friend's case is also in Ciudad Juarez. He completed the DS 160 on 10/05/2024. He has tried to create an account and register for an interview but it does not allow him it says CASE IS NOT READY FOR APPOINTMENT any idea??? I heard that Ciudad Juarez directly email's the interview date. Is that true? (K1 VISA CASE)
