Hi everyone,

I am in the process of filing N400 and got a little confused with the form.
So I got my green card through marriage and in meantime, we got divorced. Now I am eligible to apply for citizenship and I need help.
>Part 5. Information about your marital history

Your current marriage (if you are currently married, including if you are legally separated, provide the following information about your current spouse. <

Since I am divorced, my ex husband is not my current spouse and we are not legally separated, I believe that I have to skip this part. If someone else out here was in this situation, please answer. I appreciate everyone’s help.

No current spouse => nothing to say about current spouse on the form.

But you have to list spouse in prior marriages section.

Thank you. I believe you are talking about part 1. Information about your eligibility. Yea that that makes sense. Thanks again

Part 1 Question 1 for you is check box A - general provision.

Part 5 Question 1 - Divorced

I checked the form, it looks like you don't have to provide spouse information besides bringing certified copy of divorce decree to the interview.

Sorry I just got a little confused with part 1 box A general provision. My green card is marriage based. It kinda makes more sense to answer US citizen spouse because that’s how I got my green card.. so confusing 🫤

Question 1 is about how you're gonna naturalize, not how you got your GC.

Since you're divorced, you have to go through general provision, which is living in the US as LPR for 5 years.

I was in this exact situation, albeit I was Diversity Lottery and received my Green Card through my (now) ex husband.

Brought my divorce decree and the USCIS man didn't even look at the original.

You should be all good!

Did you also check the box A General provision in part 1?

Thanks. Yeah, I have been a lawful permanent resident for over 5 years now.

Did you also have to submit the marriage evidence again when you applied for N400 ?
