Hello everyone,

first of all I'd like to thank everyone for a wonderful website that helps us all in this long and stressful journey.

We had an interview today with my wife, just general questions (spouse's birthdays, places of birth, verified SSN/address) - everything seemed to go well BUT at the end the examiner said "we will mail you the decision" , which makes me very concerned. I asked "did everything go well?" and she said "everything went well, you wont have to come back here".

I feel ok overall, but I am still very worried - I read other experiences that people think their interviews went well but then get a request for a second interview and/or have to wait for months. My name check cleared btw (thank god).

Anyone have a similar experience and how soon did you get the decision?

I appreciate any help in advance!

Good luck to all of you!

Probably just means the interviewer has to get approval from their supervisor before they approve your case, this sometimes happens. Everything else sounded extremely positive. I'm sure you'll get your approval notices very soon.

The immigration officer who interviewed me neither confirmed nor denied that I passed the interview. She just said she needed to check for a copy of my birth certificate with the NVC. I left the interview wondering if I passed or not? 75 days later, I got my green card!

no, she didnt talk about condition removal or ask me to sign anything . She did take my I-94 though. I really hope I get good news and wont have to wait for weeks.

Sounds very promising. Thank you for posting your experience. When you get your green card please post that, too, so others going through the interview process can be somewhat reassured if they have an interview similar to yours. :)

I wonder why the interview processes are so varied.

Our interviewer stamped the papers "approved" and said we'd get our notice in the mail, but didn't say a word about removal of conditions in 2 years, nor did he have us sign anything. He didn't stamp anything in Chris' passport either, which I thought they were supposed to. You would think there'd be a specific procedure to something like AOS approval, wouldn't you?

I wonder how many folks leave thinking that everything went OK, but found out in a letter they were denied? Or do they always tell you at the interview if you are denied?

It definitely is interesting just HOW different everyone's experiences are. I think a lot depends on the examiner . What is frustrating is that now you have to wait god knows how long for the decision.

I am pretty confident in our interview, but of course im still worried that it will take months to get the results like some people here :( You never know with the USCIS. She did take my I-94 though which I think is a good sign. Would they take I-94 if everything wasnt ok ?

some points that might be useful for others:

before the interview began, we made it a point to arrange all the folders on the table for easy reach and for her to see how much evidence we had. I think that no matter what brining a lot of evidence strengthens your case in the eyes of the examiner (at lease subconsciously) even if some of the weight is added by all the photocopies :)

Try to relax, nervousness is your enemy (i've read how some people messed up their own birthdays because of stress) and although we cannot help it, try to control it. We chatted/laughed about fun stuff while in the waiting room in order to relax, I was rather surprised that practically no one else was really talking.

Also - we were VERY organized and made photocopies of everything ahead of time ( She even commented it was nice of us to do that.) so organize everything well and go over the folders the night before so you remember what is where and can pull it out quickly. Make copies of everything too im sure they appreciate it if you make their work a bit easier, they will be nicer to you in turn.

update: we got a letter saying the I-130 is approved. What is interesting is that the online system is not yet updated and we never got any emails about the I-130 approval.

Does anyone know if the I-130 approval means that they found that the marriage is legitimate? Should I-485 be pretty much a guarantee now, given that all the medical, background check and financial information is in order?

thank you everyone!
