Medical as part of AOS - Xray required ?

Having read around the forum a little more just now I am thinking the "Request for further Evidence" that I see on my case screen maybe requests for MEdical exams.

My wife, me and my eldest daughter have not had the medical examinations yet - although we have had our biometrics done.

Question:

Although I have read all the helpful info on this website about the exams - I am a little lost in terms of what is actually performed.

Can someone clarify if an XRAY is performed or not ?

The reason I ask is that my wife is 7 months pregnant.

The only x-ray you need is your chest x-ray, if your TB skin test is positive.

Usualy, chest x-rays are not done on a pregnant woman. So if your wife will be positive on skin test she will get a waiver for x-ray.

My wife is pregnant and they will not do an x-ray during pregnancy. They also will not do vaccines during pregnancy or during breast feeding.

Not true. For a full medical you need a chest X-ray and a TB skin test.

ok. Now I am confused.

Does this mean our AOS situation will be postponed until after my wife stops breast feeding? We have had vaccines but probably wont be able to get any record of them from the UK since our GP's are no longer there.

Obviously - after the pregnancy she can have the xray - this means we will at least have to wait until November though.

But now if we have to have vaccines too - this means she will have to wait a lot longer.

If it has been less than a year you should be able to use the xray from the medical before the visa interview.

The CDC instructions to Civil Surgeons seem to me to indicate that a chest x-ray is not needed unless a tuberculin skin test yields evidence of infection. And even then, pregnant women showing no symptoms can opt out of the x-ray.

However, I'm not a Civil Surgeon nor have I or anyone I know ever had an immigration medical exam performed by a Civil Surgeon. Read here and see what you think.

The vaccines can be waived by the CS but the TB test can be done if required during pregnancy from what the CS said. We have our AOS interview in September and have not had an RFE but who knows. In June I read a few threads that said they got an RFE for the TB skin test but I haven't heard anything lately. We will see what happens but I don't think they delay anything just because you are pregnant. THIS IS ONLY MY OPINION I dont want to be accused of giving false information.

Interesting, my Civil Surgeon got me to do the X-ray anyway because he told me the skin test "doesn't reveal all forms of TB", and the X-ray was still needed. No idea if this is actually true, but hasn't there been cases where people have got RFE for the TB X-ray recently, or am I remembering incorrectly?

I know, I wasn't contradicting you, I was just giving the opinion of someone who had been to a civil surgeon. My civil surgeon may have been mistaken for all I know. No problem for me because through some miracle, my Insurance paid for the X-ray anyway.

I apologize - I did misunderstand you.

I suspect that there's no issue if a Civil Surgeon does more than is required to satisfy themself that they are giving an accurate report on the applicant's health. There would (should) be concern if they do less than the instructions require.
