Questions surrounding steps after receiving NVC email with CR1 visa interview date in Bogotá, Colombia

we received the email from nvc with an interview date of October 9, 2024.
step 1 - register appointment date, error on site saying that case is not ready for interview appointment even though we already got the email. the message provides an email to contact to resolve the issue.

step 2 - schedule medical exam - sent email to dr roa and received a questionnaire to complete and one question was "Fecha de toma de huellas" which translated was date of fingerprinting and we don't have any knowledge of this. the only thing on the visa website that mentions fingerprinting is that it is done as part of the interview process. perhaps since we weren't able to complete step 1 is the reason we are not aware of this fingerprinting date. another note in the doctors email was that the US requires both covid vaccination shots. i know from experience that these shots need to be about 8 weeks apart. does that mean we have to get the vaccinations in colomba and wait an extra 2 months before going to the US? how does she obtain her immunization records from her childhood?
also, not sure how far in advance we have to schedule the medical exam. the interview date is on a wednesday, so wondering if it is feasible to get the medical exam on a monday?

step - after interview they keep the passport and we're supposed to give an address for them to mail it to once the visa is processed. can we just stay in bogota and wait for it to be ready and pick it up? if not, is there some place we can have it sent locally to pick up? or do we have to send it all the way back to Barranquilla? my wife doesn't really get mail at her address and we'll be staying in a hotel quite some distance from that residence. just trying to figure out the logistics. we'd much rather pick it up from a post office or the embassy or if there are some suggestons.

how long does it typically take to receive the green card and social security card after the visa is processed and entered the US?

we can't wait for this process to be over, thanks for any responses in advance.

Why do you think you need to register your interview appointment?  What is the exact instruction giving you that idea?

in the email it said to follow the steps at this site
https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/Supplements/Supplements_by_Post/BGT-Bogota.html

step 1 - says register your appointment online

Probably the database is not updated yet, to allow registration.  The purpose is to provide information about how to return your passport to you.  Even though this is shown as step one, this can be done anytime before the interview.

the main thing we want to know is if we can pick up the passport from the embassy and if not what other alternatives there are so we don't have to wait for it to be sent halfway across the country. her apartment is in a bad location and there is possibility for it to get lost or stolen if delivered there. would rather pick it up from embassy or post office box or a freight company or whatever else is possible

So, when you are able to register, choose a delivery location you're comfortable with.  It can be at the courier company's office.  Whether you can pick it up is another question.  Maybe somebody with direct experience with immigrant visas in Bogota, will  come along and know.  Otherwise, if it IS possible, then request it at the interview.

for anyone reading this in the future before you register online - you'll find out that you can pick up the passport/visa in bogota at the asc location...
when you register the appointment you'll have the option for premium service to have it delivered somewhere else
