hi all

I had my interview in London for my third US visa, on 8 July. Received a s221 refusal letter, and request for additional info. They wanted the subject access report (which hadnt been required for the previous 2 visas) to back up my police certificate.

Only received the SAR back from ACRO last Thursday so immediately emailed it off to the email address provided.

the s221 letter states that after 2 days I can go back into the account and print off the delivery instructions to send my passport off. However, the account still says 'check DS160 status', and when i follow that link to the CEAC website it still says Refused, and case last updated 8 July.

Has anyone else had experience of this, and how long its likely to take to update?

I dont want to email them again, because I guess it would be pointless, and i dont want to pee them off.

thanks

Depends on the Visa and what is in the SAR

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

They do not ask just for what is on the SAR.

Presumably you do not need a waiver?

yeah, i know you have to disclose all arrests, cautions and convictions. Just concerned that the PNC record on the SAR doesnt exactly match what i disclosed.

no i dont need a waiver, as convictions were very minor and not CIMTs.

You wrote that it says “refused,” which is the default term for AP.

Just an update on my position. I'm still in AP, after sending the required document in 15 days ago. Now pretty much resigned to the fact that I wont be going to the US on 24th September as planned.

My daughter will now have to go with the wife instead!

I need to rearrange travel plans, so was just wondering in the unlikely event that I do get approved in the next few days, how long would processing and delivery of stamped passport take, working back from 24th September.

I'm guessing I should allow up to 5 working days for delivery and 10 working days for processing, so pretty much means unless I hear anything today, i'm screwed, and may as well change flight details this weekend.

I understand no-one can predict processing times for AP, but would appreciate input on peoples experience of how long it takes after approval until received visa/passport back.

Thanks

Mine was 4 working days from interview to receiving the passport with visa in. That seems to be fairly standard, they say to allow 10 days but it never seems to take that long.

But AP could take a lot longer, so it will depend on when your status changes to ‘issued’.

Good luck.

Status on CEAC website is now showing case last updated 05-Sep-2024, (was previously showing 08-Jul-2024), so hopefully that means things are moving now?

Or does it just mean that someone could have simply opened a file and closed it again?

It means somebody has done something. It could mean they're about to issue your visa, but could also mean somebody has just added your SAR to the file and it's still waiting to be looked at. No way of knowing unfortunately, just keep an eye on your status and keep fingers crossed for the magic words of 'approved' or 'issued' to pop up.

Good luck.

I've had the email this morning asking me to send my passport in! get in!

the website at ais.usvisa-info.com/en-gb/niv says send documents, but when i click on continue it just sends me round in circles and back to the start, instead of giving me the courier instructions to print off.

Is this normal, and does it normally take a while for them to update it after sending the email?
