How long for permanent resident card (green card)?

Is there a specific timeframe for when it should arrive? How do we track it’s delivery? We’re we supposed to do something else after my wife arrived to the US?

My wife’s port of entry was July 19. It’s been one month now. I was under the assumption that it should arrive in a few weeks. We did not change address because we are still living in the current resident addresses in the I-130 and NVC packet. We logged into our USCIS account and saw the choice to change address but no choice to track or locate the green cards status.

Be patient, you will surely get your it .

It may take up to 90 days from the date you entered to receive your permanent resident card. You entered the U.S. using your immigrant visa, You paid the immigrant visa fee AFTER you entered, It may take up to 90 days from the date you made your payment to receive your permanent resident card.

Good luck 👍

You cannot track the card.  It's sent by first class mail only.  Your visa with entry stamp serves as a temporary green card for up to a year.  Most cards come within 4 to 6 weeks, but some take longer.  It is what it is.

USPS Informed Delivery showed tracking number for my GC in both cases: after AOS and after I-751. Wouldn't it be similar in this case?

Maybe, but that covers only the last 2 to 4 days.  Nothing to track until then.  How did you receive tracking information?

Up to 90 days. Ours took about 6 weeks last year. You check the status using the receipt number from when you paid the green card fee - it will tell you when the card has been sent for production, when it's been printed, and give you the tracking number once it's sent.

USPS Informed Delivery. I got info when my card was produced too, but tracking was delayed. You're right this only covers the last few days, once card is shipped.

Tracking number on the online account, but you don't need it for Informed Delivery, it shows it once it's in the system anyway.

It shows it.  Which "it" shows the tracking number?  Is there a notification of some kind, you only see it if and when you login?

The Informed Delivery website. Every day you get an email telling you what mail is on the way, for packages or anything sent tracked it has the tracking number there too and you can follow it on it's way to you.

But for the USCIS tracking for the GC, it's also on the USCIS online account. It says 'mailed on xxxx date' and then has the tracking number as well. So if one doesn't have Informed Delivery, they can track it anyway using that number and the USPS website. https://www.uscis.gov/forms/filing-guidance/how-to-track-delivery-of-your-notice-or-secure-identity-document-or-card

In my case USPS Informed Delivery showed tracking number as soon as USCIS assigned label to the mail. It was in the email saying something like "Arriving soon". I also got text from USPS as I signed up for text alerts. All of this was 3-4 days before USCIS officially updated the status with tracking number. From what I understand, the tracking number was assigned even before USPS picked up the mail from USCIS.

So, informed delivery is something you sign up for in advance, and THEN it's pro-active.  Is there any pro-active notification from the USCIS online account, or would you need to check it every day to know?

USCIS also has text alerts you can sign up for. Both of these require signing up. Neither of organizations send text messages without one's consent.
