What is the i601 process?

Hello everyone

 

Quick question...Please what is the process for the  i-601 before approval. its be 18 months since we submitted and we have not recieved any update from USCIS except the normal notice notifying they recieved the form. is this standard process? The case history just says recieved case on feb 2023.

 

Please advise.

Standard processing timeline seems to be about 22 months.

Thank you for your response. I am guesing that   We will not hear from them until it is completed, is this so? Also if we want to send them additional  documentation (it was not requested but we want to send them in the hopes that it will fasten the process.) how do we   send it?

Yes, you won’t hear anything until RFE, approval or denial. I wouldn’t send them things they haven’t asked for but if you want I assume you can mail it to the service center that is processing it.

I did not think you could update a I 601.

 

Well to be more precise I have not come across anyone who has done so, please update us.

 

I assume this is a DIY, no Lawyer involved.

What is the waiver request for? I bet that makes a difference.

There was a lawyer involved but she no longer represents us.      IDK if we have notify USCIS or not.

Yes I assumed as much, but what type of inadmissibility? Some are quicker and easier than others.
