Hi again,

If my spouse does not have sufficient income at the time of the interview, and we use his parent as a co-sponser, how much over the income requirements does she need to be?

Does she have to make enough income to show she can support herself, her husband, my fiance and me? Or as a sponsor, does she just need to make enough income for a "2 person" household?

Thanks again to anyone who can help.

From my understanding of the I-134 i believe it would be everyone who depends on her for support. There is a section on page 2 I think which asks names and relation of everyone who ie either partially or wholly dependent on the sponsor or co-sponsor.

From what I got....the co-sponsor has to make enough to support their family plus you. So if they are a family of 2 and you added to it would be 1....the co-sponsor would have to be able to support 3 in total. Hope this makes sense.

Anyways this is what I got from doing mine!!!

Oct 1/09 - I-751 package sent

Oct 3 - package delivered

Oct 5 - NOA mailed

Oct 13 - 1st NOA received and additional letters for my daughters I filed with. NOAs stated Resident Status

has been extended for 1 year and that we will be receiving a letter for an ASC appointment for

fingerprints, photo, and signature.

Dec 2009 - Received 10 year permanent resident card.

Feb 2010 - My children received their 10 year permanent resident cards.

Oct 2010 - My children were legally adopted by my USA Citizen husband.

Ok, so from the chart at this link...

http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_1327.html

... where is says "Size of Family Unit"... this applies to the sponser plus the number of people in the household?

So if was just my fiance, and he was sponsoring me, size of family unit would be 2?

Yes.

I'll give you another example. If his Brother was acting as a co-sponsor and say he was married and had 1 whos is under 18 and fully dependent on his parents. Then the Co-sponsor (your fiance's Brother) would have to make enough to support a 4 member household. (Him, His wife, child and you)

Good luck.
