I-751 Requirements

Hello,

 

I am in the early stages of preparing to submit my Form I-751 and expect to send it in January 2025.

 

I have a question regarding the application process. My wife and I first met through an online dating app. Do I need to include information about the app or our initial conversations from the app in the I-751 application, or should I wait to provide this information if we are called in for an interview?

 

Here is our timeline:

• I-130, I-485, & I-765: September 2022
• Two-year green card approved without an interview: April 2023

 

In our initial submission, we provided evidence through pictures, bank statements, pay stubs, tax returns, and apartment lease agreements. I plan to submit similar documentation for the I-751.

 

I would appreciate any guidance you can provide.

Did that app and conversations happen AFTER you got married? Like the Kitten already said, you should show evidence from when you got married until the date of you submitting in the ROC, and then at the interview you can bring extra evidence from the time of submission to the interview date.

Your initial relationship is already established. You need to supply evidence of an ongoing marital relationship. Online dating chat logs are (hopefully) not a part of that.

We only used the app when we first connected, only used it about a month before exchanging numbers and meeting in person. This was during covid, where the rules were very strict as you aware. I am sure they are many people who use dating apps to connect first in this day and age first. 

 

We never used the app after our marriage. Just wanted to better understand if we should bring support docs (our initial convos) if we get called for an interview

 

Also, has anyone provided affidavits of thier marriage as part of the submissions?

 

Right now i am planning to submit the following evidence:

Bank Statements (Chequing, Savings)

Rent statements and Mortage payments, pre approvals, 

Car and Home Insurance 

Utilities bills 

Photos and trips

 

These are the mains that have both our names on it.

 

Is there anything else I am missing?

Joint Tax returns?  Personal affidavits aren't needed unless you lack quality evidence.....which you don't seem to.

Yes that right I have the join tax agreements.

 

I will also include our driver license that has the same home address for both.

I think you have good evidence.  This what we submitted (in 2019):

 

Apartment lease with both our names & signatures
Joint bank checking acct statements since wife's arrival in June 2017.
Deed for new home with both our names
Mortgage Lender Letter with both our names.
Credit Cards showing both on joint account with same card number.
Amazon delivery label showing both names and our current address.
Wife's Military Dependent ID card showing me as the sponsor.
Tricare Eligibility Letter showing both of us together.
Military pay statement showing wife as my benefic.
Texas Health Care Directives appointing each other as sole health care proxy(Advanced Directives)
Our Texas driver's licenses with same address for both of us
2018 Joint Tax ReturnTax Returns 
Pictures of us on special occasions here in the US.
Car Insurance Cards showing both of us as insured drivers for our car
Boarding Passes for Las Vegas Valentine Day Trip 2019
Utility application showing both our names for our current address

Yes, I submitted 2 affidavits from family friends who knew us as a couple on ongoing basis.

In regards to photos, I included pictures of us with family and friends at different places, weddings and holidays since getting married. Also included trips we have done. Should I include more pictures from our wedding day as well ?

Focus more on covering the ongoing events.

There's not much value providing 10 pictures from the same day. Give 10 pictures from different days or occasions.

Do I need to include a copy of my marriage certificate for I-751?  I already provided this during my initial filing of forms I-130 & I-485.
