These guys were a place to shop, until the pandemic lockdowns hosed their inventory stocks and they raised their prices to where nothing is a bargain any longer.  Thanks, Bidementia.

Big Lots is closing hundreds of stores after warning it could go out of business

 

Big Lots is closing more than 300 locations across the United States, or roughly a quarter of its stores, following an earlier warning that its future was in "substantial doubt" amid ongoing financial troubles.


The discount retailer previously said it planned to close as many as 40 stores during its most recent earnings report in June, when it recorded a 10% decrease in sales and a $205 million loss for the quarter because customers are cutting back on spending.  In a recent regulatory filing, Big Lots said it would increase the number of closures to 315 stores, part of an updated loan agreement to secure its finances.


A specific list wasn't revealed, but Big Lots is listing closing sales at hundreds of its 1,389 stores on its website.  [...]

America is preparing to say goodbye to another big name retail chain.


Big Lots is planning shutter all of its locations following months of store closures and a September filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.


The retail chain is launching "going out of business" sales to "protect the value of its estate," a Thursday press release stated.  The company did not offer a timeline for how long the sales will last [...]

Big Lots reaches deal to keep hundreds of stores open.  Here's what we know.

 

Some Big Lots stores, and jobs, will be saved.  Is your store closing?


On Friday, Dec. 27, the chain announced that 200 to 400 stores will be sold to Gordon Brother Retail Partners LLC.  Big Lots assets including property and distribution centers will be transferred to Variety Wholesalers Inc.  That group runs more than 400 stores in the southeast and mid-Atlantic under the following names:  Roses, Roses Express, Maxway, Bill's Dollar Stores, Super 10, Super Dollar and Bargain Town.


Earlier this month, Big Lots Inc. announced that going out of business sales would start at all U.S. locations.  The nationwide discount store chain said in a news release that a previously announced sale to Nexus Capital Management would not be finished as scheduled.


With the most recent news release covering a range of hundreds of stores, the final list of places that will close is not likely to be finalized yet.  The agreement is also subject to bankruptcy court approval.  [...]
