I don't think this list proves anything -- having a sizable African American population is not a

sufficient condition for crime and violence. How many African American cities didn't make the list?

There was another list where the safest US cities all had a large white demographic. Why does everyone insist on denying the facts, seriously now? People are still in denial rather than accepting reality and trying to fix it..

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

I do not know of anyone being asked whether county signs should be re-written, at the tax payers expense, in Spanish. Do you?

I do see australia translates its immigration forms in multiple languages at taxpayer expense, I presume

http://www.immi.gov.au/allforms/applicatio...uages_alpha.htm

I live in Los Angeles county and I see no county signs in Spanish

I am starting to doubt you ever lived in Sydney as you said you did. Yes Australia translates stuff into 'various' languages. I never said they didn't. The government call centers also have people who speak various languages.

New citizens to Australia are now required to learn English; Which the government provides free of charge. I have seen many post is VJ where people have stated that they deal with certain immigrants, in the US, who refuse to learn English.

Try learning to speak a foreign language. It would be hard to prove and highly irrational that someone immigrates to this country and has no desire to integrate. This is a nation of foreigners and even among Hispanic families, you'd be hard pressed to find third generation individuals who don't know how to speak English. Many of them in fact don't speak fluent Spanish.

I don't think you'll find anyone here arguing against the need for immigrants to integrate into society, but you cross the line when you believe that assimilation (which is different from integration) is necessary for foreigners to succeed in this country.

I like living in a city with lots of immigrants - lots of good food to eat

Now that is funny because everyone I have spoken to who has ever visited the US (from Europe, Aus, HK, Japan, UK) did not like the food in LA. But hey it is an acquired taste.

only place I really see Spanish signs is in the Spanish food markets etc......

I was driving by a public Elementary school the other day and noticed all of it's signs had been converted into Spanish.

I find it funny how you guys have never seen any Spanish sign in LA considering most of the illegal immigrants are living in CA..

drivel drivel drivel

Yes, do you need a napkin??

I never said I didn't see any Spanish signs....

I am not one to judge someone on their education as I know a few people with PhDs, yet hey have little to no common sense.

Isn't that a contradiction in terms?

It sounds like that but I am sure you know what I am talking about. Well maybe not.

Because I don't think they are facts. You've pulled statistics and essentially jumped to the conclusion that its the demographic breakdown of those cities that is the reason that those cities are the 'most dangerous'. Again there are more factors to consider here than just the demographics.

Keep to your anecdotal evidence as a way to form such concrete opinions.

The LA area has some of the best restaurants I've ever been to - far better than I've seen so far on the East Coast (with one recent exception).

Why shouldn't foreigners try to become an American? This country has its up and downs but has a lot to be proud of as well. Some make it out as a taboo to be an American. While it is great for America to embrace and learn from other cultures it should not have to changes its way of life to accommodate everybody else.

If I was to move to China, for example, I would integrate and at the very least try my best to become Chinese.

Why do you assume that an article that says there are 100 million non-white people in the U.S. entails that those 100 million are not assimilating, that they don't speak English (N.B. not all American citizens are white), and apparently that they're all black or Hispanic?

Why because absolutely everyone I have ever come in contact with does not like the food in CA. Maybe it is just a coincidence. It is what it is.

IE EG. While I was in London people asked where do I live. When I told them the US they asked what I think of the food there as they did not like it. I found out they stayed in CA for a while.

Show me where I specifically said that every single person of the 100,000,00 is not integrating or does not speak English.
