K-1 Documents

I've gotten info from a couple of people, but I just want to get more information on it. My fiancée has her visa interview next month. I was planning to mail her the documents she needs from me, but I've heard that I can just email these to her instead. Would she be fine if emailed, or do they need to be original physical copies?

I can speak to the K-1 interview process in Manila only as my fiancee has her interview there next week, but there is nothing original from the petitioner that is needed except for a divorce decree if you have been divorced. For the I-134, they will accept you signing the form in the US (No "electronic" signatures like in Adobe, etc.), scanning it and emailing it to your fiancee to bring with her to the interview. All the supporting documents that go with the I-134 can be scanned and emailed as well. The original docs they require from the beneficiary are; the MRV Receipt (Visa fee payment), NBI Clearance, the PSA Birth Certificate and the Cenomar (or Annulment Decree if your fiancee was married). This is based on the last 11 months of research I've been doing on the interview process there in Manila. (Yes waiting for USCIS action on your I-129F will drive you a little crazy.) My fiancee also obtained original Local Civil Register declaration and original Baptismal Certificate to have as supporting documents in case they question her "Late Registered" birth certificate. If I'm wrong on any of this, I humbly defer to the more experienced members to correct me.

Divorce decree (if applicable) must be original, signed and sealed. 
 

I-134 page 10 of 13 must be signed with wet ink. You can print it, sign, scan and email to beneficiary. 
 

The rest cant be signed digitally i.e; updated letter of intent to marry etc.

I have seen many, many posts that wet ink is not required for the I-134.... they all could be wrong

They were referring to the original signature, meaning do not sign it with an electronic signature.  Once it is personally signed by hand, copies are fine, as you originally stated.  Manila almost never asks for the I-134 anyway.

Thank you for the confirmation! Jaycel's interview is in 2 days, how was your interview experience?

It was a breeze.  I must admit that my wife (now) is exceptionally well spoken, does not get nervous, and had already travelled and worked abroad.  And, although she didn't live there at the time of the interview, she grew up in Manila, so she is very familiar with the area.  I made sure she had all documents they could possibly ask for.  They did not ask for the I-134.  They did, however, take and KEEP my certified divorce decree, which was a bit of a surprise.  I emailed her a copy to print for CFO, just in case they wanted to see it.

 

Tell Jaycel to take whatever "study sheet" she has with her, so she can review it while waiting to be called.  But she also needs to be listening for her name to be called.  The questions were pretty basic.  Where do I live, my age, what's my birthday, have I ever been married before, etc.  No really hard questions.

Thanks so much for this! I'm confident that Jaycel will do fine.. She just got her degree there in the Phiippines and spent lots of time doing presentations in front of her professors, administrators, etc. and knows the details of our relationship that even I can't remember. LOL Plus we have a pretty uncomplicated case - Neither of us ever married before, neither of us have kids. The only outlier is her late-registered birth certificate, but like I said, she just got back from the province where she got the official, sealed Local Civil Registrar records and the official, sealed baptismal certificate to bring as supporting documents for the late-registered BC. I just shared this with Jaycel and she says thank you for taking the time to share it with us!

Some filers said that consuls don’t ask for I-134 when they see IRS and W2s and income are above poverty line which. Is that true?

Since the IRS transcripts and W-2s are evidence for the I-134, I can't imagine showing up to an interview with only the evidence and not the form they are supporting.  I'm not sure why anybody would have the evidence without the form.  I guess what I am saying is, who cares if they do or do not ask for a form you are supposed to have in your possession?

That isn't what I call wet ink.  That is hand-signed.  Wet ink, imho, means original, unscanned signature.

Keep in mind that a W-2 or a tax form is not always evidence of CURRENT income...unless the petitioner/sponsor is self-employed.  It is evidence of last year's reported income.

Agreed... It says they may ask for it so Jaycel has it for her interview along with all the supporting documents (W-2s, Tax Transcripts, Employment Verification Letter, Pay Stubs, etc.) And she has backup docs for everything. LOL Gotta play the bureaucracy's games of the love of documentation 😬

For sure... That's why I gave her the past 3 months of my pay stubs
