Marriage Question

Hi guys,

 

My K-1 Interview is set for August 22nd in London and if everything gets approved I’ll be flying out on October 6th. We both plan on getting married on October 25th at our nearest Courthouse in Frisco, and we both know that we need to obtain a marriage certificate within 10 days of getting married in person.

 

So my question is, during the interview if the consular asks when’s the wedding, is it ok to say that we plan on getting married on that date without it being officially booked?

I would say yes! Things can change but they are asking about your wedding ~plans~. 

 

If you have true intentions about getting married on that date, I would share that. My fiance and I have our wedding date picked out, but also nothing is booked yet (because things can change outside of our control). If asked he will be sharing our wedding date

Personally, I would say you plan on getting married 2-3 weeks after your eventual arrival in the U.S. on the K1 visa if approved.  I would not add any specific dates, or anything like that as you never know until the visa is issued.

A marriage license needs to be granted to us at least 10 days before we get married in the state of TX, sorry…

Congrats to you both! My fiancee's interview is at the Embassy in Manila on Tuesday, August 13th. We plan to answer the "Wedding Plans" question like this:

"Because of the uncertainty of timelines in the K-1 visa process we have not set a firm date for our wedding, however our plan is to get married at his county clerk's office there in Colorado within 30 days of my arrival in the US."

 

Wish you both all the best and BTW, my sisters and niece and nephews live in Frisco. I love that town!

Its good to know that nothing needs to be booked in advance, if the question arises during the interview, I’ll stick with the answer that I have already in my head.
