My wife’s visa is now “issued”. We selected a post office for delivery but we have no other information about how to pick them up. Are we supposed to have a code or other identifying information to pick up our passports? How do they prevent someone from taking their passports from the post office?

After your wife's interviewed,  did not the interviewer give her any sheet of paper to use pickup her passport from the Post Office ? If so, let her use that Paper for collecting her Passport.

Good luck 👍, and congratulations 🎊

Identification is what is usually needed.

They are picking up their identification

They don't have any other form of ID?

Driver's license? Credit/debit card? Birth certificate?

Yes, they have their domestic Russian ID.

i went to the post office and all I had to do was show them a copy of their passports.

thanks everyone.

So you used "Identification".  Of course their international passports were not their/her only identification.
