HELP - I have an interview in my Home country!!

My mom filed for me in 2015 when I was single. I got approved three years or so and have been awaiting interview date. Just got an email my interview is next month but since that filing I have gotten married and just had a baby.

I currently live in another country with my family but the interview is scheduled to be attended in my home country.

I have several questions that  my country consulate isn't able to answer and the NVC either

1. Can I move the interview to the country I now reside?

2. Can I change to a family interview since my status has change personally (Husband and baby). I read-up on derivative family and join to follow option; how do I go about that

3. I had uploaded important documents in the USCIS portal but It won't let me change status officially, do I update my status and category and would it change this interview/

So confused and just brain everywhere

Agree.  If Mom is US citizen, looks like F3 now...which is more than 5 years behind an F1.

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

Or longer if Mexico or the Philippines.

To the OP, notify NVC and the consulate of your situation change.  It would be a waste of time and money to show up for an interview and be denied/refused due to the wrong visa class.

Good Luck!

there's no point for you to move the interview because you are not F1 category anymore (unmarried adult).

cant change it to family interview. u are now on F3 category and ur date is not current

https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/legal/visa-law0/visa-bulletin.html (look for august 2024 visa bulletin to have idea). it still 5 years from now to be current (at the moment)

As others have stated that you were required to remain single until your immigration. Your mother should have notified them when you got married and then you would not be going through this big ordeal of updating your petition.

Is your mom still a GC holder?

And to give you a clear estimate, which country are we talking about?

Immigration journey is not: fast, for the faint at heart, easy, cheap, for the impatient nor right away. If more than 50% of this applies to you, best get off the bus.

You said last year that your Mom 'recently' became a citizen - when did you get married, before or after that happened?

As everybody has said above, you're not eligible for F1 anymore. The question is are you now F3, or did you get married before she became a citizen (as there's no category for married children of LPR's)?

Thank You so so much for the response. let me respond to everyone here. I could not figure out how to respond to each of you.

My mom is now a US Citizen. The original country is Nigeria and I live in UAE now.

We actually just left the case and continued with life because see how long it took. I couldn't have waited this long to be unmarried.

So now it's just what the next right move and who to contact specifically.

Thank You all

My thoughts:

1.  You were an F2B when she filed the I-130.

2. You lost that category when you married.

3.  Now, you are an F3 category.

4. Even an F3 priority date is not current.

5.  You will be denied at an interview next month.

6.  Your consulate needs to be informed that you are married, imo, so they can cancel the case.

7.  Mom will have to file a new petition.  You MIGHT be able to use the earlier priority date.  If not, you will have a long wait.

Others here might think differently.

First two pints are correct.  Three is incorrect.  When an F2B applicant marries before the LPR petitioner naturalizes, the petition is immediately voided and cannot be resurrected after the petioner naturalizes. Belinda63 is correct — parent must now file a new petition.
