I heard Guam may not be an 'official' POE and you may get deferred to Honolulu. You may wish to consider bypassing Guam and go directly to Honolulu - then onto Houston.

PAL flies direct. Leaves Manila at 330pm on Tu, Thr and Sat and arrives in Honolulu at 745am the same day. Immigration has been staffed both times I came thru at that time of day.

My fiancee (now my wife) entered the US in Guam. It was at 4:30AM and we had no problems. The CPB officer was a really nice Filippino guy.

Guam is an official US POE. Only customs is deferred to Honolulu, so you don't collect your bags until you are in Honolulu.

In this case, what is the difference between POE and customs? I am very curious as this is a option for Joan also. As far as bags, that's no big deal as she needs to get them anyways to transfer to an inter-island airline to get to Maui.

Hope you plan to meet her in Hono. Honolulu airport can be confusing twitching to interisland airlines.

Hint! Hit the lei stands while your waiting and give her a Aloha nui loa!

Have fun waiting outside the door for her to show if she flys PAL.

I sat there for 1 1/2 hours not knowing if my wife and anak made it or not.

She didn't carry on the xrays and had to get her baggage to get them which takes awhile.

They normally take the xrays at Hono.

Don't ask why as I have no idea what they do with them. Most POEs don't take them.

K1 denied, K3/K4, CR-1/CR-2, AOS, ROC, Adoption, US citizenship and dual citizenship

POE is where she enters the US and where her VISA will be checked by a CPB officer. The Officer may scan her finger, take her photo, and ask a few questions from the docs in the packet. I think the officer is mostly just verifying that she is who she says she is. the officer will attach the I-94 (hopefully she filled this form up on the plane) to her passport. Don't detach or lose the I-94!

Customs is just baggage. No biggie.

POE and customs is almost always at the same airport, but not in Guam.

GUAM was my POE and everything went smoothly. I arrived there 4am too. Don't forget to fill out the I-94 so they can assist you quickly when they ask for your packet from the embassy.

They will also ask you couple questions, finger scanning, picture taking and they will remind you to get married within 90 days and apply for AOS.

Be careful referring anyone to Hawaii right now. That tropical storm is a little rough looking for the immediate future.

Life's just a crazy ride on a run away train

You can't go back for what you've missed

So make it count, hold on tight find a way to make it right

You only get one trip

So make it good, make it last 'cause it all flies by so fast

You only get one trip

Little breezy here on Maui - nothing more. Hawai`i Island is getting the brunt of it - and it's still not that bad. Tomorrow - back to normal.

You should have no problems at the POE in Guam. They see plenty of women with a K1 or K3. Just make sure that when you are asked a question answer it to the best of knowledge, and truthfully. If you do this, you will have no problems. In all the years that I worked in LAX as an inspector in the customs area, we always appreciated those that told the truth. All first timers to the US get nervous, but that is natural, just be yourself.

Good Luck to you Island Princess!!!!!!
