hello to everyone.

i have psoriasis for more than 10 years now. i know it's not a contagious disease but still it bothers me alot. do you think i will have a problem on my medical exam when they learn that i have psoriasis?

my fiance asked me to have my general check up so to lessen my worriness and to make sure i'm fit and can pass my medical exam (if time comes)... had my xray, blood test (several parameters), urinalysis, etc... so far no negative results. my fiance is so positive that everything will be fine and that soon i can be with him.

i plan to get a medical certificate from my dermatologist prior to my med exam schedule.

can psoriasis hinders my dream to be with my one true love and live with him in the US? :help:

thanks for any advise/opinion you can give.

PS... anyone knows a good dermatologist near carlisle, PA?

Very doubtful. It appears to be a genetic disorder not something caused by a virus or bacteria. Immigration is more concerned with things like HIV, TB and Hepatitis.

you can only be medically denied if you have a communicable disease. Psoriassis is not communicable. If your husband passes the requirements for the affidavit of support anyway, then you're fine.

can psoriasis hinders my dream to be with my one true love and live with him in the US? :help:

Hi

During my K-1 medical examination in London the doctor noted that I had some psoriasis showing on my scalp. He just asked me if I had it it looked at and I said 'no'. More as an aside he just suggested that I went to see my doctor about it as it can lead to other conditions like arthritis. I can't tell you whether he made any notes about it that were included in the exam report, but I can tell you that it was not mentioned at my interview at the US embassy in London and didn't effect the approval of my K-1 visa.

From the impression I have gathered, they are really looking for series problems with the medical exam. Based on my experience i think you will be just fine. Don't worry about it.

Good luck, Ed.

Psoriasis is not a ground for visa denial. And you should not worry too much as stress can flare up your psoriasis.

Just want to share what the Panel Physicians will be examining and what are some of those that are considered "CLASSES OF EXCLUDABLE ALIENS"... This describes classes of excludable aliens who are ineligible to receive visas and who shall be excluded from admission into the U.S.

1. Communicable Disease of Public health Significance:

> Active Tuberculosis

> HIV Infection

> Infectious Syphilis

> Chancroid

> Gonorrhea

> Granuloma Inguinale

> Lymphogranuloma Venereum

> Hansen's Disease (Leprosy)

2. Mental Conditions

> An Alien has physical or mental disorder and associated behavior that has posed or is likely to pose a threat to the property, safety, or welfare of the alien or others.

3. Criminal Behavior

> Aliens convicted of certain criminal acts

> History of criminal behavior associated with a physical or mental condition that has posed a threat to the property, welfare, or safety of the alien or others, even without conviction maybe used by the panel physician to determine wheter an alien has an excludable condition.

4. Drug Abuse or Addiction

> includes aliens who are engaged in the non-medical use of any substance (named in the Controlled Substance Act)

5. Alcohol Abuse or Dependence (Alcoholism)

> Does not refer explicitly to alcoholics or alcoholism

> Evaluation for alcohol abuse or dependence is included in the evaluation for mental and physical disorders with associated harmful behavior.

6. Exclusion on Public Charge Grounds

> Aliens will be examined for other physical or mental disabilities, disorders, diseases, or disabilities that would likely to render the alien to care for himself/herself or to attend school or work, or that might require extensive medical care or institutionalization.

For those with history of medical conditions as mentioned above, I would suggest that you get a Certification from your private doctor that you had such disease but is already treated or if you're under medication, duration of medication and the condition of the disease and show this to the panel physician (SLEC- Philippines).

If you had prior history of TB but is already inactive/treated, better to bring your previous CXR plates and result for comparison with the CXR that they will do and bring Medical certification from your Private MD that you have been treated for PTB (for how long and the medications taken).

For those with history of Physical or Mental disorders: A Medical certification from your Private Doctor (Psychologist/Psychiatrist) that you're on treatment, also a written letter from you that you will continue your medication/treatment.

For those with existing/current Communicable Disease (as mentioned above): If you're on treatment and the panel physician will diagnose you to be "contagious" or "infectious"-> they will not complete your medical exam (forms) and will advice you to complete your treatment and get clearance from your Doctor, only until then (treatment completed) that they can complete your Medical Exam and they can forward the results/forms to the Consulate.

There are categories (Class A, B, etc...) that they use for classification. Not good if they will Classify you as "Category A".

Just keep your head high and don't let anyone discourage you. Only those people will discriminate because they are ignorant of what you have. Good Luck in our k1 journey. I hope we have a speed recovery on this. It's along journey..
